NA meets Supernatural
I was so excited to get the chance to read this book as part of TLC’s book tour! I absolutely loved the premise! Sort of X-Men meets Girls, Discovery introduces us to a world where comic book heroes are real and heightened drama lies just below the surface of the mundane.
In Discovery by Lisa White, we meet Grace, Annie and Ben, three best friends starting off on life’s adventure together. They live pretty boring lives, predominated by work and bills, highlighted by the occasional night out. But it is the advent of Gracie’s 22nd birthday party that brings big changes to the “Three Amigos”‘s lives.
First off, the trio gets split up when the girls meet the Reich brothers. Think country club, Abercrombie models. But without that clean cut spirit on the inside. And right from the start Ben can tell that these guys are trouble. Still, there’s something strangely compelling about the brothers and Annie and Grace get caught up in their web early on. Next, on the night of Gracie’s birthday party, things go…well….a little crazy. The next thing we know, Gracie and Ben are on a road trip (or Gracie’s been kidnapped, you decide) and life as Grace knew it is altered forever.
I liked the supernatural elements to the story and the set up for what promises to be an epic trilogy. I found Grace a little hard to relate to in this first book, but that’s not uncommon when dealing with heroines who have a lot of growth potential so I have high hopes for Grace in the next two books. I also found the start slow, but again, there’s a lot of ground work being laid, groundwork that holds a lot of promise!
If you’re looking for a fantastic way to slip away from your everyday, discover Discovery by Lisa White! I’ll definitely be looking out for the second book!!

I’ve never heard of this one before, but I’m liking how NA is branching out into genres other than contemporary.
This one seems interesting and it looks like you enjoyed it. I’ll be on the look-out for it.
Great review!

While I usually wind up liking characters with a lot of potential, I agree. They’re hard to deal with at the beginning because, really, you just want to smack them upside the head. Haven’t heard of this book but it looks like I’m going to have to check it out!
