Lost and broken, Celaena Sardothien’s only thought is to avenge the savage death of her dearest friend: as the King of Adarlan’s Assassin, she is bound to serve this tyrant, but he will pay for what he did. Any hope Celaena has of destroying the king lies in answers to be found in Wendlyn. Sacrificing his future, Chaol, the Captain of the King’s Guard, has sent Celaena there to protect her, but her darkest demons lay in that same place. If she can overcome them, she will be Adarlan’s biggest threat – and his own toughest enemy.

While Celaena learns of her true destiny, and the eyes of Erilea are on Wendlyn, a brutal and beastly force is preparing to take to the skies. Will Celaena find the strength not only to win her own battles, but to fight a war that could pit her loyalties to her own people against those she has grown to love?

The Throne of Glass series is one of my favorite series and Celaena one of my favorite female kick ass heroines! Today, instead of a classic review, I wrote a letter to Celaena!

Dear Celaena,

I’ve meet you first in Throne of Glass and fell in love with you. I totally mean that in a platonic way of admiration, so don’t get me wrong here. You were an assassin, considered a criminal, yet there was something about you that made me stop and question my morality.

I don’t want to repeat what you went through in Throne of Glass, then in ….  but you did grow so so much!

Then, the BIG revelation at the end of Crown if Midnight??

Holy freaking Awesomeness, I think we all didn’t expect this – you totally hid this very well Celaena, but now we know who you really are!

Now, I’ve waited for a year to meet you again and follow your story in Heir of Fire and gosh girl, you were nearly broken and so heartbreakingly lost! Where was all your spirit? The happenings at the end of Crown if Midnight completely crushed you and my heart was aching for you. You wanted to flee from everything run away and only have one thing in mind: Revenge! But they didn’t let you run away from yourself and from the person you are supposed to become.

In the beginning you were so different than the strong and kick ass girl we’ve got to appreciate.  And it needed some hard words, some hard work and some wonderful secondary characters like Rowan to bring you back on track and to lift your spirit, and make you fight again!

And it needed Rowan to bring back your fighting instincts and bring you, as the kick ass character we fell so madly in love with back to us full forth! Gosh, it was such an amazing and tough journey for you, he made you question yourself, but you needed this! And yes, I agree sometimes he also was a rude ass and not very nice to you.

Rowan is such an amazing character!!! I’m completely in love with him and since you are still pretty much in love with Chaol.

I totally claim Rowan to be mine!

Hear that Celaena?? (and all you other readers, Rowan is mine!)

Rowan is mine! This wonderful Faery Prince with the super tough and hard shell, with all his tattoos and who completely won me over. I’m a little stunned you didn’t fell for him.. but *shrugs* more for me!

Again Celaena,  you surprised me in Heir of Fire – I went through all kind of emotions with you, from anger over heart ache and then the joy over your victory! You grew so much, it was incredible to follow. You were at the bottom, you felt you were beaten – but you came back, stronger, wiser and ready to meet your destiny!

I can’t wait to hear what’s next for you!

Sincerely yours,

P.S. : I think you would be stunned to know what else was going while you were so broken and training with Rowan. Thankfully, we as the readers of your stories got quite a few side stories and parts from other characters that added to the intense richness of your story! I could however have done it without learning so much about the witches… but Celaena, be prepared! They are coming for you!

Bewitched Rating

Bottom Line

Heir of Fire by Sarah J Maas was epic! With each new instalment Sarah J Maass outdoes herself and makes us fall even more in love with this epic fantasy series that is so unique among the Young Adult fantasies. She creates the most amazing characters and proves yet again with the introduction of Rowan that there is so much more to come!

Most definitely, this is one of my favorite series where I am always eagerly and impatiently awaiting the next book!

  1. While I’ll let you have him, I fear that you may have to battle screaming hordes to fully claim Rowan as your own. While I liked the first book in this series, it was more of a 3-star read for me but it sounds like I need to continue it!

No, I claimed him early enough I feel very secure about him:))
See, you are like Jenny she also was not too fond of the first book, but then I told her (and she listened! ) to read the Novella’s which are set before Thorne of Glass and now Jenny is hooked too!

So go and give them another chance – you will be in love too!

  3. I WILL FIGHT YOU FOR ROWAN DANNY! Wasn’t he awesome? I was so worried he was going to turn into a love interest, but it didn’t head that direction at all and their friendship at the end nearly brought me to tears. SO. GOOD. I couldn’t be happier I gave this series a second chance, both this book and Crown of Midnight just blew me away and I can’t wait to see what happens next:)

  4. Nope nope nope Rowan is 110% MINE. No arguments 😛

But I completely agree; HoF is by far my favorite from the series so far! And that’s pretty surprising, since I never thought The Assassin’s Blade could be topped. And I’m like 99% sure that book four will be my new favorite when I read that too; this series just keeps getting better and better!
