Allison Sekemoto has vowed to rescue her creator, Kanin, who is being held hostage and tortured by the psychotic vampire Sarren. The call of blood leads her back to the beginning—New Covington and the Fringe, and a vampire prince who wants her dead yet may become her wary ally.
Even as Allie faces shocking revelations and heartbreak like she’s never known, a new strain of the Red Lung virus that decimated humanity is rising to threaten human and vampire alike.
Who hasn’t read a book by Julie Kagawa yet? I don’t think that there are so many out there.. I mean she is fanfreaking amazing and is both a master in character development as well as incredible world building. Her Blood of Eden Series is nothing less than epic and she again showed her incredible talent with this second book in the Blood of Eden series
Rescue Kanin
I admit, I was already a big fan of Kanin in the first book. The one Vampire who saved Alli by making her a Vampire. There are lots of mysteries surrounding this very old Vampire, but I instantly fell in love for him! I even was a little disappointed that he wasn’t the main love interest. After he got caught by Sarren – another old vampire, but a super freakish one – Alli is now on her quest to rescue him. Yeah Alli! Main part of the books focus on searching for him. But.. the story is far from being boring! Action finds us and Alli pretty fast and we get easily sucked in again into this cruel and fascinating world.
Alli – kick ass and a vampire with heart.
Alli is the best example for a kick ass character. She’s not afraid and would do anything for the people she loves or feels loyal to. Even more, in The Eternity Cure Alli grows even more, becoming more accustomed to being a Vampire but never loosing her humanity. Even though she sometimes struggles. However, this conflict makes her character even more genuine.
Love, Romance and the swoon factor…
While I admit not having been totally sold on the romance between Alli and Zeke in The Immortal Rules, I am now fully Team Allie/Zeke. They are perfect for each other and Zeke absolutely and positively surprised me. Now, he made me swoon and fall for him so easily and I couldn’t believe why I didn’t see this wonderful boy in the same light before. Even though we leave Zeke in Eden by the end of Immortal Rules, we soon are back together with him, which proofed to be a big but pleasant surprise.
Friends? Foe? Villains?
The best part of this story was definitely the amazing cast of unique side characters. It’s not easy to decide who we want to cheer for. Who is a friend, who is an ally and who is deep down a villain? I loved this controversy because it added a thrilling additional layer to this complex story. As I said, Julie Kagawa manages to create highly unique and perfectly developed characters that never seem to be boring and that will always manage to surprise us!
Bewitched Rating
Bottom Line
The Eternity Cure by Julie Kagawa is a thrilling sequel to the epic Blood of Eden Series. The characters will easily draw you in and soon you won’t be able to put the book aside. It even surpasses the first book and shows again what an incredibly writer and storyteller Julie Kagawa is. Do not miss this!

Seriously adore this series!! I was getting a bit bored by vamp stories and along came Julie Kagawa with such a mind-blower that I couldn’t pass it — or this amazing sequel — up!! I love ALL the characters, even that jerk (you know who I’m talking about).

This one is just about to the top of the pile. I’m glad Alli/Zeke relationship is developing. I’m kind of like you — it didn’t do much for me in the first book. Thanks for the great review. I can’t wait to get to this one.

I’m reading this one now (and another book too, since it’s on my kindle and I hate reading on it) and I’m glad that the Allie/Zeke relationship gets better (I’m still only at 10%). I don’t remember really feeling it with the first book. I do LOVE these books though, they are EPIC!

Wow this is such an awesome review Danny!!! I loved the first book so much and I can’t wait to read this one! I almost started it the other day but I’ve been really craving contemporary books so I started Dare You To instead!
But the fact that you loved this book makes me want to hurry up and read it. 🙂 And you said it’s even better than the first one?? Must have!
