Kennedy Martin is shocked when her ex calls days before his wedding, expressing serious second thoughts. Doesn’t he see his fiancée's actually the glaze to his doughnut? Now she’s got no choice but to crash his wedding and convince the man he’s with the right woman.
Instead, she crashes into the absolute last man she ever wanted to see: Maverick Owens, her old college nemesis. Maverick is still as awful, infuriating, and just The Worst as ever—even if he looks way too sexy in his cowboy hat. And of course he’s convinced she’s actually at the seaside ranch to ruin the wedding.
Now the only way to get some face time with the groom and save this marriage is to participate in all sorts of pre-wedding events...with Maverick. Stuck on a canoe, making small-talk at cocktail hour, and even a hoedown with her worst enemy? This just might be the longest week of her life...
I love books where the main characters are the best opponents for each other, and in this case Kennedy and Maverick were each other’s reason for doing so well in college. They always tried to come out on top academically while irritating the other one. Years later, Kennedy is an ER doctor while Maverick works on his family’s ranch/destination wedding resort. When Kennedy’s ex-boyfriend calls implies that he’s not sure he wants to get married to his fiancee, Kennedy crashes the week-long wedding festivities with her best friend Andrew (who actually was invited) so she can talk some sense into him so the wedding will go on as planned. But Kennedy never thought she’d see Maverick ever again, and she certainly never thought that he’d be even more handsome or infuriating good at pushing her buttons after all these years. He knows she’s not on the guest list, and he won’t let her make his family’s business look bad if she ruins this wedding.
It took me a little bit to get warmed up to this book and the third person point of view story telling from both Maverick and Kennedy’s voices gave a nice insight into their lives. Kennedy is fresh off a devastating relationship, so she dives head first into work and the only family she wants to be around–her little sister. When her work isn’t even safe any more, she quits on a whim and sets her sights on a position in a hospital in Boston. Maverick’s life didn’t go as he’d planned, but he has the love and support of his close-knit family and a business he enjoys. So he didn’t become a veterinarian, but he’s still fulfilled here in this small town where everyone knows him and unfortunately all his business. When Kennedy swoops in, his well protected heart starts to crack open and let her inside little by little.
I give The Wedding Crasher and the Cowboy a five out of five. Both Kennedy and Maverick have their share of troubles and heartbreaks in this story, but they surround themselves with loving friends and family, laughter, and jobs they love. The characters were well crafted and developed, and I loved the journeys and growth both Maverick and Kennedy went on. The small town and ranch are great settings and vividly painted, while the secondary characters shine. I’d love to see more of some of them in more books. Maverick and Kennedy had obstacles to overcome both on their own and together, and I really enjoyed the ride.

About Robin Bielman
Robin Bielman is the USA Today bestselling author of over twenty novels. When not attached to her laptop, she loves to read, go to the beach, frequent coffee shops (and by frequent she means daily but she’s trying to break the habit), and spend time with her family.
Her fondness for swoon-worthy heroes who flirt and stumble upon the girl they can’t live without jumpstarts most of her story ideas. She writes with a steady stream of caffeine nearby (see above) and the best dog on the planet, Harry, by her side. She also dreams of traveling to faraway places and loves to connect with readers.
