In this sequel to OF POSEIDON, Emma has just learned that her mother is a long-lost Poseidon princess, and now struggles with an identity crisis: As a Half-Breed, she’s a freak in the human world and an abomination in the Syrena realm below. Syrena law states that all Half- Breeds should be put to death.
As if that’s not bad enough, her mother’s reappearance among the Syrena turns the two kingdoms—Poseidon and Triton—against one another. Which leaves Emma with a decision to make: Should she comply with Galen’s request to keep herself safe and just hope for the best? Or should she risk it all and reveal herself—and her Gift—to save a people she’s never known?
Of Poseidon was one of the books that completely blew me away last year. It hit my like a brick wall giving me something I didn’t know I would want. Mermaids! Oh no… this is not just about mermaids. It’s about fierce, hot sex-o-fishtails Syrena. But it was also more than this. Anna Banks is just outstanding in her way of creating a gorgeous tale filled with a snarky unique language that made me fall in love not only with her, but also for the first time ever with … a fish.(Sorry for calling you a fish Galen…)
Explosive!
Of Triton hits off right after we were left at the end of Of Poseidon and it literally starts with a bang. The story is again beautifully rich and a lot is happening while Galen, and the other Syrena try to rescue Grom’s love life and life as a king at the same time. (Grom is Galen’s brother and… mated to Emma’s mom – don’t ask.. READ!)  The whole storyline is perfectly paced and even though Galen and Emma were apart for most of them time, I loved every second and the anticipation was killing me at some points.
Snarky, Fierce and strong
Emma clearly is one of my favorite heroines ever. I love her snarkyness and her comments often make me laugh out pretty lout.
Part human, part fish. Part straight-A student, part possessor of the Gift of Poseidon. Yep. I’m a natural born overachiever.
Fan-flipping-tasitc.
–ARC, Of Triton
But Emma is also determined, strong and compassionate. She would do anything for Galen even though he’s often conflicted about his love for her and his love for his people. He always tries to do the right thing even though it’s sometimes hard. But Emma just understands him and loves the way he’s loyal to his people. Emma would never make him choose, she understands and supports! She’s awesome like that!! Emma and Galen’s love is hot and sexy and I must say that I missed them being more together.
Galen happens to be in the possession of my favorite pair of arms – his – and most of the time when they are wrapped around me, (..) – ARC, Of Triton
Supporting characters that rock my fishtail.
(yeah, I know I don’t have one…)
Anna Banks developed some secondary characters that were just made of awesome! Each one of them got a piece of my heart just like Emma and Galen. I love when authors manage to create deep and well developed characters as they are often the cherry on top of a cake. Rayna and Toraf are a couple made of win and I wouldn’t mind a complete novel just with them. I even warmed up with Emma’s mom as she was just damn cute with her long lost love life.
Explosive and Bittersweet Endings!
I absolutely adored Emma’s strong headed determination to save Galen and all the others. Emma grew and developed amazingly in Of Triton and it was a joy to see he accepting herself and embracing her heritage! The ending was rather explosive and sadly also a little bittersweet. But those always make the real endings just a little sweeter. Anna Banks wrapped Of Triton rather nicely, leaving us with a warm a fuzzy feeling but still ready for the last book!
A few words about Anna Banks writing and voice as this is what makes me love her books even harder. She has a phenomenal voice, something that strikes me and makes me love her stories just a little more. Her voice is full of snark, but so perfectly balanced that it feels natural. I adore her characters and I know I’ll read anything she will ever throw at me! Bring it on Anna!
Bewitched Rating
Bottom Line
Of Triton by Anna Banks was a sequel made of perfection. It was thrilling and sizzling with tension, which was lighted up with a snarky voice and comments that will bring a smile on your face. If you love a unique and outstanding voice, love hot possessive male specimen wrapped in a thrilling and romantic tale and you must go and get a copy Of Poseidon and get started with this series!

While I wasn’t a big fan of the first book (ah! Don’t hurt me!!), it’s good to hear the second lived up to your expectations! I love when a book just does it for you, grabbing you in all the right places and not letting go until the end (bittersweet, though it may be).

I know what you mean about Anna’s voice being so snarky and natural – it’s why I’ve devoured everything I’ve read by her, because she just gets how to write a relatable and funny heroine!
I can not wait to get my hands on a copy of Of Triton! Though, I am quite upset with this model’s hair – could it be any more of a fluffy hack job?

Uh oh. You have me a tiny bit nervous at the mention of a bittersweet ending Danny. How bittersweet are we talking? You know I need to know these things before I read! I have this on on my list for this week, I can’t wait to get to it:) Glad to know this book was just as good as the first!

You can handle the ending. Don’t worry. It’s just a tiny little bit bittersweet. I know you get anxious about these things, but trust me! all will be fine.. The very very end is again superduper sweet! *swooon*

Okay, one I’m just a wee bit jealous that you already got to read this sequel! I am dying to read it! I LOVED Of Poseidon and yes I loved Emma, Galen, Toraf and Rayna. They were all great characters! Did you read the short story on Tor’s website? Need to! It’s Grom’s story. Don’t have the link, sorry but it’s on Tor.com.
And two, I’m with Jenny, just how bittersweet are we talking???? Like nothing happens between Emma and Galen that’s bad does it? I couldn’t handle that! No Anna Banks, don’t do that to us!! But I know you, you like your HEA’s. So what’s bittersweet? If you email Jenny, email me! Please!!!

Haha! don’t worry all will be good. The very very end is super sweet and will make you swoon. Plus you know me, I would cry and scream if it would be super bad. Like this is’s just a little sad..
You can totally handle it:))
And no.. I am not so much into Novella’s even though I should make an exception here for Anna:)

Oh Danny- This isn’t even a novella, it’s the story of Grom and??? Emma’s mom.
And what happened that day she left. It’s really short. You have to read it on their site. They fight kind of like Emma and Galen.
Thanks for the reassurances! I will make time to read this one as soon as it hits the doorstep! I cannot wait!
