Thanks to its unique combination of human and vampire residents, Morganville, Texas, is a small college town with big-time problems. When student Claire Danvers gets the chance to experience life on the outside, she takes it. But Morganville isn’t the only town with vampire trouble...
Claire never thought she’d leave Morganville, but when she gets accepted into the graduate program at MIT, she can’t pass up the opportunity. Saying good-bye to her friends is bittersweet, especially since things are still raw and unsettled between Claire and her boyfriend, Shane.
Her new life at MIT is scary and exciting, but Morganville is never really far from Claire’s mind. Enrolled in a special advanced study program with Professor Irene Anderson, a former Morganville native, Claire is able to work on her machine, which is designed to cancel the mental abilities of vampires.
But when she begins testing her machine on live subjects, things quickly spiral out of control, and Claire starts to wonder whether leaving Morganville was the last mistake she’ll ever make...
Ahh. The Morganville Vampires! A series made of awesome! And instead of just reviewing the last book, which just came out in May – I wanted to take the opportunity to tell you a little about the awesomeness of this series. At the end I will just shortly touch the last book, but like this all of you can read this post. People who have not yet read or started this series, People who read a few but are behind and People who are new!!
Why is this Series Made of Awesome
1. Vampires
I love Vampires, always have and always will. And the Vampires in Morganville are exactly how I want them. Dark, dangerous and badass. They tae no prisoners and there are not sparkly and not always fun. But, there are some Vampires in Morganville who show some kind of left over humanity which makes all the Vampires in Morganville very complex, deep and facinating. You never know what to expect from them!
2. Friendship
THe biggest and most epic aspect about this whole series is the friendship between
- Claire – young, super smart girl who goes to College early because she’s so bright
- Eve – badass Goth girl who has such a big heart!! in love with Michael
- Michael – Hottie/Ghost/Vampire/…. Michael is a lot of things and changes drastically during this series, in love with Eve
- Shane – OMG Shane! In love with Claire – he’s the most human of them all, hates Vampires fiercely and is total bad ass shit!
Those 4 are the core and the heart of the series and their loyal and deep friendship is just incredible! They have to go through so much during all these chapters of the story but still they always have each others back. They are a family, but not by blood but by love!
3. Growth
We see these 4 Teenagers grow so much. They grow together, then they grow apart but never too far. Each of them progresses differently but it’s still amazing to follow. Each of them develops on each own, yet they never totally grow apart. But not only our humans grow, also the Vampires change over time. Of course not as fast and profound as the humans but still. Claire is such a unique character who mingles perfectly between the world and touches also the coldest Vampires!
4. Storylines
Each book has its own story which is more or less always concluded at the end. Sure, there is a story arch which continues through more than one book. There is a lot of kick ass, a lot of relationship issues and bonds and often a looots of action! It’s never ever boring to spend a few hours in Morganville
5. Myrnin
Crazy, ancient Vampire Myrnin. Picture him as Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean and you’ve got my Myrnin. He’s Claire’s boss and is the inventor and scientist of Morganville. He’s super duper crazy and scenes with him often made me laugh so hard. But he’s also dangerous and a little in love with Claire. He’s fascinating and one of the most unique characters ever!! You have to meet him!!
You Should Start This Series Because…
Simply because it’s made of win! There is so much greatness in this series, that all fans of paranormal and vampires should get into this series. It has amazing characters, great compelling and thrilling storylines within each chapter of the series.
Also, they are very fast reads, so you will be caught up in no time!
You Should Continue This Series Because…
Each Chapter is getting better. More heartbreak, more love, more friendship and deeper storylines with the Vampires! Myrnin gets more screentime and we all love Myrnin right?
Fall of Night – Book 14 was awesome Because..
The last book was just another great book! Claire finally out of Morganville all alone and ready to live her dream of MIT… Well, that#s what she thought! but.. Morganville is never far and soon Claire is caught up in Vampire dramatics even though she wanted to be away. Also, we shouldn’t be afraid of our favorite characters not appearing, because we all know Shane. He loves Claire so much that he would never leave her completely on her own.
It felt different as it was not set in Morganville but in its heart it’s still all the same story which I loved! There are new interesting characters introduced and it’s been a great set up for the next book!

Wow, I never imagined Claire would leave Morganville. I’ve only read 4 or 5 of these books, but they are addicting. I need to get caught up. And I do love Myrnin.

I do so love this series and am interested to see how things go for Claire outside of Morganville! My favorite part of this series (besides crazy, scary-as-shite Myrnin) is the friendship — the people in the house are like a family.

I said in my 2012 recap/2013 goal post that getting caught up on this series was a priority for me this year. I’ve only read the first two in the series, but I own up through the 6th. I loved the ones I’ve read, and have heard very good things about the series as a whole. And, hey – it’s about vampires, which really are my go-to supernatural. I just LOVE them! Great series review, Danny!

DAMMIT DANNY! I’ve fallen so far behind in this series! How is book 14 out already? I’ve read through 5, but really I would need to go back through and read them all over again to remember what happens, it’s been to long. I know I loved them though, Shane in particular (shocking, I know), so maybe I just need to do a Morganville Vampire week on the blog and get caught up:)
