Trapped
title and author  on goodreads:ÂAfter twelve years of secret training, Atticus O’Sullivan is finally ready to bind his apprentice, Granuaile, to the earth and double the number of Druids in the world. But on the eve of the ritual, the world that thought he was dead abruptly discovers that he’s still alive, and they would much rather he return to the grave.
Having no other choice, Atticus, his trusted Irish wolfhound, Oberon, and Granuaile travel to the base of Mount Olympus, where the Roman god Bacchus is anxious to take his sworn revenge—but he’ll have to get in line behind an ancient vampire, a band of dark elves, and an old god of mischief, who all seem to have KILL THE DRUID at the top of their to-do lists.
Finally, the long awaited 5th book in the Iron Druid Chronicles! One of the funniest and most awesome series I discovered last year! Instantly hooked, I was eager to pick up Book 5 – Trapped!
Time Jump – 12 Years Ahead
Admittedly, I was afraid of this time jump. 12 years ahead? What did we miss in those years, something imporatnt? I should have simply trusted Kevin Hearne not to dissapoint me and he didn’t! The jump of 13 years was perfectly find and actually pretty awesome! We skipped all of Granuaile’s traning and finally reach the point where she is about to become a real Druid! That was actually a pretty awesome decision not to bore us with training times but meeting Granuaile not nearly a full Druid!
Granuaile – female Druid of kickassery and awesome
Oh how I loved this girl in Trapped!!! I mean, we know her already since book 1 and she became a constant fairly quick, but in Trapped she made it to a whole new level of awesome! She’s smart, wonderful , can kick ass and is the perfect counterpart for Atticus! She calls him out and adds an emotional level to the story which only made this series more awesome!
Atticus and Oberon – epically awesome as usual
Of course, those two are made of awesome and how can we not love this 2000 year old Druid who knows so much about the world but speaks like a College Boy sometimes! Here in Trapped we see him also a little more insecure when it comes to Granuaile and I loved seeing this side of him! It’s Granuaile who helps him figuring things out he wished to just put into a dark corner of his mind!
Kick Ass Action and … sweet and tender moments!
As per usual, Atticus has someone who wants to kill him! And this time the Greek Gods are involved! Atticus has to find a way to bind Granuaile safely to the earth and at the same time he needs to keep them save! This story is not short on action, mystery and witty and smart dialogues that will make you cry laughing! But for once, we also have some sweet and tender moments and scenes that meldted my heart a little! It was perfefcty added to the story without having taking over too much story. Truly, Kevin Haerne keeps true to himself, Atticus and Oberon and handled the romance with uttermost care!
Bewitched Rating
Bottom Line
Trapped is a wonderful and perfect continuation of the epically awesome  Iron Druid Chronicles by Kevin Hearne. Action, Mystery, witty and funny dialogues are trademarks of this series and not short in Trapped either! With the addition of some sweet and tender moments, Trapped is again made of awesome!

*Muppet flail* I LOVE ATTICUS! I LOVE OBERON! I even kind of like Granuaile (though I can never spell her name). Kidding. I love her, too! SO excited there are at least three more coming down the pike!!

LOOL I always copy and paste her name because I have no way to spell it! Also, If I wouldn’t listen to the audio I’d have no freaking clue how to pronounce her name! She’s getting more awesome each book!

Book 5 already Danny! I haven’t even read book 1 yet. I guess I have some serious catching up to do! And a 13 year jump? That would have worried me as well, but I’m glad it wasn’t an issue at all. I’m looking forward to the tender moments in this one:)

I am so anxious to get to this one. I am listening to Tricked right now and haven’t had much time to listen it to it lately. I have had Trapped waiting for a couple of months. This series landed on my best of 2012 list and Hearne never ceases to amaze me. I am glad that you gave this five stars. I have read some other reviews complaining about the mythology dump but I usually like that so I think I will be fine with it.

Oh yes, I love this series! And I’m so excited that it’s not nearly over yet. I loved the interaction with Atticus and Granuaille (I’m too lazy to try to spell that right) and love how kick ass she’s become. I really do love her part in the story and how she’s made Atticus grow. Together they’re unstoppable!

I think I might have even first seen this series on your blog Candace!
Why did Kevin Hearne gave Granauille such a complicated name? look!
Anyway, I agree she made Atticus grow and I loved the sweet moments between them!

Trapped is in my Audible cue. I want to read his novella Two Ravens and a Crow that happens at about the midpoint between Tricked and Trapped. Have you read it? These books have been great to listen to with Luke Daniels narration.
