While Morganville, Texas, is often a troubled town, Claire Danvers and her friends are looking forward to coming home. But the Morganville they return to isn’t the one they know; it’s become a different place—a deadly one…
Something drastic has happened in Morganville while Claire and her friends were away. The town looks cleaner and happier than they’ve ever seen it before, but when their incoming group is arrested and separated—vampires from humans—they realize that the changes definitely aren’t for the better.
It seems that an organization called the Daylight Foundation has offered the population of Morganville something they’ve never had: hope of a vampire-free future. And while it sounds like salvation—even for the vampires themselves—the truth is far more sinister and deadly.
Now, Claire, Shane and Eve need to find a way to break their friends out of Daylighter custody, before the vampires of Morganville meet their untimely end…
There is nothing more sad but exciting than a good series ending. I always say Good Bye with a sad and a laughing eye. Sad because I have to part with beloved characters, Laughing because I’m happy that beloved characters will get a happily ever after..
Morganville – we love and hate it!
Morganville usually is a place where Vampires rule and Human struggle to live among them. But Claire and her wonderful friends always fought for equal right for the humans. And, I always loved this about them. They see each and individual person or Vampire for what they are. They are bad and good Vampires, just as there are bad and good humans. They do not discriminate there, but judge people by their actions.
Which is why as much as everyone wanted the Vampires to disappear from Morganville, when it finally happens with an organisation called the Daylighters, everyone realises that it truly doesn’t seem much better. And Claire and the Crew are there again to fix it.
A Life worth fighting for!
As this is the last book in this fulminate and amazing series we were all excited to see how Rachel Caine will wrap everything up and puts a nice bow on it. Claire, Michael, Even and Shane fight for the people in Morganville, and this also means fighting for the Vampires. Initially, I was a little irritated that now that finally Humans rule their city, they are still not happy. But, once the story progresses it makes so much sense and is perfectly in line and in character with what they all ever fought for.
Just because humans rule, doesn’t mean it’s better – and it’s not!
And they lived happily ever after…
The end comes with a beautiful bow and I’m not spoiling too much when I’m saying that the ending will be nice. Maybe.. a little too nice? Maybe a little too perfect?
I remember a wonderful author saying once, that you can’t truly enjoy and appreciate a happy ending when there is not major suffering and loss before that involved. (I cannot remember who said it, but it makes a lot of sense to me)
With that being said, it’s not like Claire and the others didn’t suffer – but the ending came just way way too perfect for me. The whole series builds up to this ending but when it came and I finished the last page, I was like “and now?” . There aren’t too many open questions and I think Rachel Caine wrapped it all up nicely, but this is how I often felt when finishing a Morganville book and I do not trust the happiness. There is still so much room for other things to happen, for many stories to tell, that it just feels like that this needed to be the final book and this is where we stop telling the stories… You get what I mean?
Anyway, the ending is great – and the characters shine as usual so bright that I love them all so much that I am sad leaving this wonderful kids and friends behind. Personally I wouldn’t mind another book as Morganville and all the wonderful characters will always have a place in my heart
Bewitched Rating
Bottom Line
Rachel Caine finishes with Daylighters one of my favourite series – The Morganville Vampires – in a wonderfully perfect way. This is a series I am not getting tired to recommend to people looking for a great YA Paranormal series. It’s full of wonderful and amazing characters that grow so much during this books that it feels like you just know them.

Okay, I didn’t read your whole review because I haven’t read this book yet and I don’t want any hint as to what happened. I sincerely hope they get their happily-ever-after and go riding off into the sunset but I’m sure shizz got real before that could happen!

I’m with Mary, I didn’t read it either ’cause I think I’m only about halfway through the series (I really have to get back into it). I knew the last one was coming up but didn’t realize this was it! I’ll have to get all of the books together and finish them off one right after the other.
Glad to see you gave it four stars, I’ve been disappointed with how some series have ended, so hopefully this will be a good one!
