A modern day thrill ride, where a teen girl and her animal companion must participate in a breathtaking race to save her brother's life—and her own.
Tella Holloway is losing it. Her brother is sick, and when a dozen doctors can't determine what's wrong, her parents decide to move to Montana for the fresh air. She's lost her friends, her parents are driving her crazy, her brother is dying—and she's helpless to change anything.
Until she receives mysterious instructions on how to become a Contender in the Brimstone Bleed. It's an epic race across jungle, desert, ocean, and mountain that could win her the prize she desperately desires: the Cure for her brother's illness. But all the Contenders are after the Cure for people they love, and there's no guarantee that Tella (or any of them) will survive the race.
The jungle is terrifying, the clock is ticking, and Tella knows she can't trust the allies she makes. And one big question emerges: Why have so many fallen sick in the first place?
Well, sometimes you just know that you are going to love a book. And… with Fire & Flood it was exactly like that. First of all I love Victoria Scott – her Dante Walker series is awesometastic and Fire & Flood just sounds so unique that I knew I will love it!
The Mysterious Weirdness!
Jumping right into the story with a lot of weirdness going on in Tella’s Life. A deadly sick brother and no one knows why he is so sick. A move into nowhere and no one tells her why the are cut out from everything and everyone. And then, finally the maya weirdness telling Tella that there is a cure for her brother but for this she must compete in the Brimstone Breed Race.
Yes, the beginning is filled with secrets and mysteries – but this makes the first pages so intriguing and spell binding. Just like Tella, we’ve got no clue what’s going on – but boy, we so desperately want to know!
Also, when the race finally begins – the questions are not getting less – no! We are constantly on edge, trying to figure out what the deal is about this race!
Tella – Heroine by Chance
Tella is a wonderful heroine. When we meet her, she’s more of a barbie girl and doesn’t even know about her own strength and I love that about her. I think if she would have know what the this race would ask of her, she would have told us and herself that she couldn’t do it. But then… you are always growing with your challenges and that is what Tella is doing. She’s a fighter and a kick ass girl that is just at the beginning of her amazingness. In the end, Tella knows what she’s fighting for and that’s her brothers life!
A colourful blend of Characters made of Awesome!
Besides Tella, the whole story is filled with such incredibly characters that everyone will find someone to love and cheer for. And I will add the Pandora’s to this wonderment. The Pandoras are the companions each of the contestants will get for their race and .. I can#t tell you much more about them – other than this Pandaoras are just amazing and so unique! Victoria Scott created something amazing here and I love her idea so so much! You’ve got to meet these creatures yourself and thank me for not spoiling it for you!
Action, Mystery and Romance!
This story has it all – and all kind of readers will find something to love. There is lots of kick ass action , there are some truly gruesome and mind blowing scenes that actually made me gasp! It was eerie, chilling and sometimes also had some truly horrific moments. But admits all the horror of survival, there is also love and friendship and this makes the book even more perfect for me!
There is Guy who is just the perfect bad boy full of mysteries that we desperately fall for and we want so badly to know all his secrets. The chemistry between Guy and Tella was sizzling and I loved them together so so much!
Fire & Flood by Victoria Scott was just full of awesomeness and wonderment! It was full of action with elements of horror but also filled with love, friendship and hope. Tella is a kick ass heroine who we love to see growing during her trials and who needs to believe in her own strength. Fire & Flood is definitely and adventure you don’t wanna miss!
Excited for Fire & Flood too?? Any ideas what the Pandora’s might be?

Sounds great! I haven’t read a good thriller in awhile. Isn’t it wonderful when you immediately know that you’re going to love a book? It’s so rare when that happens but there have definitely been a few that I knew were perfect from the first sentence.

I totally agree! I loved reading Fire & Flood. I thought it was a great read. Although, in the beginning I found Tella to be very annoying. I loved watching her character grow though. Being thrown into a situation that she had no understanding about really shows how resilient she can be. LOVED IT!

I started this book last week and I couldn’t connect with the main character on any level, but from your review and from many others, it seems like she does grow throughout the book, so I’m going to give it another shot.
The plot was very intriguing and I’m excited to meet Guy.
I’m glad you enjoyed this, Danny!

Such a crazy and completely awesome story — I liked it so much more than I expected (and, for the record, I did expect to like it). I loved our heroine who shows that a girl can be both “girly”, smart and able to more than hold her own in a competition like this!! I’m ready for the next, please. *grabby hands*

Wowza! This book sounds intense and like something that I want to read even though I know I’m going to need tissues to get through it!
Thanks for the fab review! Hugs! 🙂
Well, yours is a much higher rating than the last review I read. She was thrown off by the beginning, felt too lost. But you don’t seem to mind that at all. I want to know what a Pandoras is!!! I like Victoria Scott’s writing so I think I need to read this!
I’m glad you liked it so much. I think it’s a definite for me.
