Before we talk about Teardrop I have a confession to make: I am a big big fangirl of Lauren Kate and her Fallen Series was definitely one of my favorite, passionate love stories ever! Needless to say, when Teardrop was announced I was utterly excited and barely could calm down when I heard Lauren Kate would be at BEA. So, of course Teardrop ended up being my first BEA read!

Don’t Ever Cry!

Imagine you could never ever cry? Letting the tears flow when you are sad? This is Eureka’s life after her mother told her to never ever cry. Eureka just lost her beloved mother and she’s in a mental state of complete loneliness and sadness. Even though she lives with her dad, he changed and their relationship changed a lot after he remarried. Eureka is utterly broken and so lost that her heartbreaking emotions directly jumped at me out of the pages. I was so broken and lonely with her!

I wanted her to get better, I wanted her to see bright light and I wanted her to feel love….

Oh  my gosh, you see I’m just a mess with her! That is what Lauren Kate does to me with her tales…

 

Heartbreaking! Passionate!

Just as I expected from Lauren Kate the whole story totally broke my heart. In the beginning we dig deep into Eureka’s life which is already sad, but when her best friend Brooke also starts turning to be an complete and heartless Jerk I was most definitely reading on with tears in my eyes!

But besides the sadness there is also a lot of underlying passion and a slowly unfolding love story that kept my mood and my hopes up.  Ander is the mysterious boy who suddenly and constantly appears on Eureka’s side. He’s mysterious and weird and she cannot comprehend what he wants from her, of if he might be dangerous. But Ander was definitely a boy made in heaven. Most definitely swoon worthy, he managed to capture my heart and Eureka’s broken one quite effortless.

I just know that with the progression of this series, their love with turn out to be incredibly epic.

 

Atlantis – an ancient Lore, paranormal elements!

Apart from Teardrop being both heartbreaking and passionate it also comes with an incredibly unique and brilliant paranormal storyline! I admit being fascinated with Atlantis, but there is so much more in Teardrop that proves this series will most definitely be epic! When Eureka learns about an ancient love story I became even more compelled and engrossed in this story. Lauren Kate added elements here from Atlantis that made the whole story uniquely stand out. I cannot wait to see where she goes from here!

Teardrop by Lauren Kate is full of passion, heartbreak and incredible unique storytelling.  Everyone is always looking for something unique and here you go – Teardrop is most definitely unlike anything I have ever read before!

Seriously, I cannot stress enough how much I love Lauren Kate so I know I sound widely over excited about her books. But, I urge you to try this new series as it clearly is sometime else entirely. 🙂

    Confession: I never liked Lauren Kate’s books, because they were insanely dull for me and I felt that the romance in Fallen, if toned down, could have led to more development of the characters. But as it is, I really dislike it.

    But this sounds really interesting. Atlantis is a subject not really explored in YA, so maybe I’ll give it a chance. Thanks for the review, Danny!

    Ooooo a 5 Danny?! You know I can’t not read it now! I was of course sold on the gorgeous cover alone, but you know I can’t resist a swoon-worthy and possibly dangerous boy. I must meet Ander! Plus, there’s Atlantis. Like you Atlantis fascinates me, so this book is just an all around must read for me!

    I have never read a book by Kate. I do own the first few books in the Fallen series but have yet to make time to read them. Sounds like this is a book I should put on my wish list for when it releases. I love heartbreaking tales, especially ones with a great guy who SLOWLY falls in love with the main character.
