When legends come to life the world trembles from a single name. Ronin. Once-heroes from a different age, they wield elemental powers… wind, water, fire, stone, forest, sun, moon, flesh, and metal.
At the same time, a young man discovers his best friend with a sword in her stomach, and dark wings sprouting from her back. Guards rush onto the scene, accuse him of the act, and he is forced to flee. In a new world without his memories, Gray must find his way amid legends and darkness, as he wrestles with an elemental power inside himself.
A power all too similar to the infamous Ronin…
CITADEL OF FIRE

Find it:
Seventeen-year old Gray is descended from a legendary hero known as a Ronin, and haunted by his forgotten past. He returns home to a wizards’ keep, unaware he is now labeled a murderous traitor for killing his best friend.
Returning could be a death sentence, but the journey alone is perilous. Along the way, Gray discovers he has a grandfather. Now he must reach the city before his only living family dies beneath a madman’s torture. Getting there will be a challenge, however, as an enthrallingly unpredictable woman, a dangerous desert, and a horde of thieves stand in his way. Wielding the banished power of wind, Gray rallies against the poisonous evil that seeks to convert the world to their mantra, “strength is life, weakness death.”
Yet with an affable scoundrel and a clever bookworm at his side, Gray discovers the world’s greatest secret… He is not the only one with hero’s blood, and the legend of the Ronin walk the world once again.

Review:
I’ve long been a fan of epic, high fantasy. The kind of book that sweeps you off into another world, filled with magic, danger and adventure. The Knife’s Edge is just such a book, one that will surely please fans of the fantasy genre and anyone just looking for a great book!
The series starts off with Gray, immediately besieged by tragic loss and forced into exile, not just from his home but from his very self! In short order he finds himself trying to master his own powers and deal with the mysterious sword he brings with him.
As is usual in this genre, there’s a fair amount of world building, which I love! I absolutely enjoyed the lush way Wolf described the world Gray inhabits, from the stark, fiery deserts to the lush, green forests later on. I loved the magic in this world too, particularly it’s elemental nature. But most of all, it’s the characters that really drew me in! Gray suffers so much, so early on, and has so much to learn! Thank goodness for his friends along the way! But this isn’t a warm-fuzzy tale of cuddly friends! This is a story of magic and adventure and you really just have to read it to understand how wonderful this book is!!
Bottom line:
Fantasy in fine form, this magical first book of The Ronin Saga is not to be missed!!

Looks like an absolutely amazing series! I’m into this high fantasy addiction at the moment and these sound like extremely plausible candidates. YAY fantasy.
