Super Six Books That I’m Excited to See Turned Into Movies in 2014
As a book lover, I can’t help but be both excited and have a bit of dread in my stomach when one of my beloved stories is coming to the big screen. Will the movie be faithful to the book? Will the movie veer so far away from the book that I won’t be able to enjoy the movie? Here’s the six books that are coming to the silver screen this year that will get me out to my local theater.
Release Date: March 21, 2014 – I haven’t made it to the theater for this one yet, but I will once the crowds die down.
Movie Synopsis (From Yahoo! Movies):
Release Date: March 21, 2014 (UK) – I’m really hoping for a US release on this one!
Movie Synopsis (From Yahoo! Movies): New Year’s Eve on the top of a London skyscraper. Martin is literally on the edge. A once-beloved TV personality, he’s now desperate to jump. But he’s not alone. Single mother Maureen, sassy teen Jess, and failed musician turned pizza-delivery boy JJ, have all turned up on the same roof with the same plan. Instead of jumping, these four strangers make a pact to stay alive and stay together until Valentine’s Day at least.
Release Date: September 1, 2014 – I’ve yet to read this Gillian Flynn novel even though I’ve had it since it came out, but I’ll be sure to dig in before the movie comes out.
Movie Synopsis (From IMDB): A woman who survived the brutal killing of her family as a child is forced to confront the events of that day by a secret society obsessed with solving notorious crimes.
Release Date: September 19, 2014 – This is another series of books that I need to read, and having Dylan O’Brien as the lead in the movie certainly doesn’t hurt!
Movie Synopsis (From Yahoo! Movies): Teenager Thomas wakes up in the Glade, an oasis in the middle of a huge maze. He is surrounded by other boys his age, who like him, have no idea how they got there. The boys try to find a way out of the maze every day, but no one has escaped. Although he has no memory, the maze seems familiar to Thomas.
Release Date: October 3, 2014 – I loved Gillian Flynn’s dark psychological thriller, and I’m excited to see Ben Affleck take on the lead roll. I’m even more excited to see that the author has changed the last third of the book for the movie, so who knows what will happen?
Movie Synopsis (From IMDB): A woman mysteriously disappears on the day of her wedding anniversary. Based on the novel, “Gone Girl.”
Release Date: November 21, 2014 for Part I – Each installment in this franchise has been excellent, so hopefully the momentum keeps going. I’m not sure that I will be able to take seeing Peeta tortured, however…
Movie Synopsis (From Yahoo! Movies): Katniss Everdeen leads the districts of Panem in a rebellion against the tyrannical and corrupt Capitol. As the war that will determine the fate of Panem escalates, Katniss must decipher for herself who she can trust and what needs to be done, with everything she cares for in the balance.

I have Mockingjay and Maze Runner on my list as well. I haven’t seen Divergent yet but I’ve heard great things! I haven’t read the others but I will probably read them closer to movie time! Great picks and if you have time come check out my SSS this week.

I just saw Divergent today, and I LOVED it! I already need to see it again, to be honest. There were some changes, but overall I thought it didn’t hurt the story at all! And Theo James only improves the experience 😉
I don’t think I’ll be able to handle Mockingjay either… both parts actually. Part II will probably be the death of me O_O
