So, I have to start this post off by stating that I am an EXTREMELY fortunate Bookworm. Not only do I live in Chicago, where all sorts of conferences *cough*Romantic Times*cough* get hosted, but I live within a reasonable distance *45 minutes* from one of the most AMAZING independent stores for YA fans ever:
Anderson’s Bookshop!!
I spend at least a few minutes every week on their events page, checking out who the latest authors they’re hosting and finding ways to dump my kids on gift my husband with time with our three lovely children so I can get my fangirl on and meet these authors who bring me so much literary pleasure.
Last Friday, I had the wonderful opportunity to met four STUPENDOUS authors:
Tahereh Mafi, Anna Carey, Veronica Rossi and Cynthia Hand!
They were an enormous pleasure to meet! They answered all of our questions, including who their favorite characters in their books were (and I actually could not contain my squee when Tahereh said Warner was her favorite too!!!) They were so much fun and so engaged with their fans, it really was a great event.
But for me….there was a tinge of sadness.
Why, you ask, dear reader?
Well…because Romantic Times was in town, there were two other authors that Anderson decided to host in their alternate location. Authors I had met before, but whom I love like friends. Authors who were in fact, the very first YA authors I ever went to a signing for.
Who are these wordsmiths of mythic awesome-saucem???
Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl!
It was like Sophie’s Choice here!!!!!
But, I love you, my dear readers, and I had all of these books that needed signatures from these four amazing debut authors, so I stuck with my planned signing; mollified by the fact that Heather, my fellow Bookworm and book-signing sister-in-arms, went to see Kami and Margi, picked up a signed copy of Beautiful Chaos for me and then was willing to meet up with me later, assuring me that she would tell them how much I adore them.
Safe in the knowledge that Heather, as always, had my back, I settled into my event in Naperville, ready to get my squee on over these four authors whose books both Danny and I loved!!!! I was in the midst of enjoying the great repartee going on when I got a little text….
I’m giving Kami Garcia a ride to Naperville.
Now, we all know Heather’s fiesty, but certainly not so devilishly wicked that she would play a joke on me….
Would she?!?!?!?!
Of course not!!!!
As I sat, reading my book, waiting for my turn in the signing line, listening to the other great bloggers who were there as they chatted about the fun time they have all been having at Romantic Times (yes, I know I should have joined in but I am a shy little fox, don’t you know?) I hear a “Psst…” from behind the card shelves.
Who was there, dear reader????
My beloved Heather and Kami Garcia!!!!!!!
To say I was all a-squee would be a VAST understatement! Hugs were exchanged. Chatting commenced. My spot in the signing line was forgotten until I had been woefully passed by. But I couldn’t have been happier! Because I got to spend time, not only with the lovely authors at Naperville but Kami Garcia, whom I absolutely adore!! And if that was where the story ended, it would have been a night to be happy with, no doubt.
But, the super-de-duper, Stacy from Page Turners invited Heather, Kami and I to join her and her fellow blogger Michele for a bite after the signing… and…
Tahereh Mafi , Anna Carey and Cynthia Hand came too!!!!!
Best. Signing. Ever!!!
It really was so much fun to listen to these authors interact with each other, talk about the more personal side of being a YA superstar and discuss about what they love and what they could live with out in books, the industry and life in general. A completely fantastic evening.
So on the heels of such an amazing night, you know we have to share the love!
These four authors may not have come to your town, (although they did hit 4 cities across the country in 4 days!!!!) but worry not, because the Bookworms have your back, dear reader! We have, not one…. not two… but THREE awesome prize packs to be won!!!
- Prize Pack 1 : Signed ARC’s: Shatter Me, Under The Never Sky, Eve and Hallowed, Signed Poster and Bookmarks!

Hey Pushy!
That is one epic giveaway ! 😀
By the way, is it open for internationals as well ?

Hey Nick, I am so sorry, but this is only US/Canada only. Shipping costs would be too much for us. I promise we soon have again an international Giveaway.
Specially I know how depressing all those US Canada only Giveaways are…

I’ve been to a book reading (Susan and Clay Griffith) and a panel discussion (four authors including Holly Black and Cassandra Clare) but both were very small and it was easy to get stuff signed. I don’t think I’d be patient enough to wait in a ridiculously long line at a signing, though.
I’m really excited to get my grubby mitts on Eve, because I love fleeing from evil people stories, and Shatter Me because it sounds reeeaaallly different.
