I’m ridiculously excited..
I guess I’ve made clear how much I love Harry Potter, I mean I even have a Harry Potter tattoo in my wrist. And like many other fans, I always wanted a sequel. Not necessarily a book with Harry in focus, but rather with his offspring. I always felt like that Harry’s story was told, but… I was not just done with the world and so I wanted a sequel!
THIS DAY IS FINALLY HERE!
I still can’t believe it.
A few month ago JK Rowling announced a new theatre play called Harry Potter And the Cursed Child and that was all she announced, no hints about the plot.
Many people speculated that it would be a prequel, and I admit I was only mildly interested. I mean, a prequel would mean no Hogwarts and no magic right?
So…
a few days ago, this tweet came from JK Rowling!
SQUEALS!
YES!
Albus story, cute little Albus Severus Potter (poor boy, having such a name…)I always knew there would be enough plot for a story. I want to be back at Hogwarts and I can’t believe it, but we actually get the story! Wohooot!
Taken from the official website:Â
Based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Jack Thorne and John Tiffany,Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, a new play by Jack Thorne will receive its world premiere in London’s West End at the Palace Theatre in the summer of 2016.
Featuring a cast of over 30, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the eighth story in the Harry Potter series and the first official Harry Potter story to be presented on stage. Written by Jack Thorne and directed by Olivier and Tony award winner John Tiffany, the play brings together some of the most exciting talent working in the theatre today.
It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn’t much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children.
While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will be directed by John Tiffany with movement by Steven Hoggett, set designs by Christine Jones, costumes by Katrina Lindsay, music by Imogen Heap, lighting by Neil Austin, sound by Gareth Fry, special effects by Jeremy Chernick, illusions by Jamie Harrison and musical supervision by Martin Lowe.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is produced by Sonia Friedman Productions, Colin Callender‘s Playground Entertainment and Harry Potter Theatrical Productions.
Casting will be announced at a later date.
So, Harry Potter and The Cursed Child is…
- Not another book
- Not another movie
- AÂ theater play.
The play will open in June 2016 and you can pre-order tickets now!
I tried getting some tickets, but after hours (!!) in the waiting line I ended up not being able to buy tickets from my iPhone!! Damn it.. now the dates I wanted to have are sold out and the next available tickets are for January 2017… Still, I will check every once in a whole and still hope to get some tickets! I soon want so see this!
What about you? Excited that we are finally getting a sequel? Excited or disappointed that it’s going to be a play, rather than a book or movie?Â

Have you seen it yet? I absolutely loved it! I’m not a huge thetre fan, I have seen a few plays, but this was pretty outstanding. Very good indeed, and a must watch if you haven’t seen it yet.
