It's Bring it On meets The Craft in this spellbinding witchy series debut.
A stolen book. A deadly plan. A destiny discovered.Â
If high school is all about social status, Indigo Blackwood has it made. Sure, her quirky mom owns an occult shop, and a nerd just won't stop trying to be her friend, but Indie is a popular cheerleader with a football-star boyfriend and a social circle powerful enough to ruin everyone at school. Who wouldn't want to be her?
Then a guy dies right before her eyes. And the dusty old family Bible her mom is freakishly possessive of is stolen. But when a frustratingly sexy stranger named Bishop enters Indie's world, she learns that her destiny involves a lot more than pom-poms and parties. If she doesn't get the Bible back, every witch on the planet will die. And that's seriously bad news for Indie, because according to Bishop, she's a witch too.
Suddenly forced into a centuries-old war between witches and sorcerers, Indie is about to uncover the many dark truths about her life—and a future unlike any she ever imagined on top of the cheer pyramid.
One of the few times when the synopsis was so well and perfectly written that I knew I needed to read this book! It sounds like fun, especially with the promise of an action packed plot and a little romance along the way!
Quirky, funny and full on action with intrigue!
The setting was just picture perfect and right on! Indie, our super popular Cheerleader with the perfect boyfriend is Queen Bee at her school, and that even with her weird mother who runs an Occult shop. But, Indie is popular enough to withstand even this. However, Indie’s world is turned upside down when an old book is stolen from her mother and suddenly weird things happen and Indie is thrown into a world she didn’t believe exists. Witches, Magic and Warlocks and Indie in the middle of an old war!
Bishop! Oh Holy Freaking Awesome! Badass, Incredibly Funny and full of Snark
Bishop is the incredible, unbelievable amazing highlight of this book. He’s a Warlock send to help Indie in recovering the book and train her in magic and Oh this boy! He will make you swoon and die of laughter! Already when we meet him he made me laugh out so loud – I literally had tears in my eyes so bad I had to laughed. And … this bad boys has a tattoo of naked cartoon character – on his neck! Gosh this guy is unbelievable! So full of snark – his comments are just the cherry on top of everything!
I couldn’t get enough of him.
One of the first scenes where when he was sitting on the bleachers during a Football game, where Indie was a Cheerleader – and every time she cheered and did some cheering stunts he cracked up! Everyone was confused why this boy was sitting there laughing his ass off – but he just found Cheerleading ridiculous and made no secret of it.
I think I’m not getting this across right, but believe me this scene was cracking me up and if you read the whole scene I promise you will too!!
Dark Magical Plot with a strong heroine and a wonderful sidekick!
I liked the plot surrounding an old war among the witches and an old book that needs to be found. It’s the stuff the make movies from and this would be a perfect movie plot in my opinion! Indie was a wonderful, genuine and easy to connect with heroine that drove the plot wonderful. Her struggle felt real and I loved seeing her grow! But what is a hero without a sidekick? And there comes Paige – Oh cute wonderful Paige! She always wanted to be friends with Indie and didn’t get that Indie run with a different crowd. But when it really counts you suddenly see who are your real friends and there comes weird Paige! The way she always saw the good in Indie even though Indie had been pushing her away and it was wonderful to see when finally Indie realized that Paige is a real friend!
Bewitched Rating
Bottom Line
Hexed by Michelle Krys was wonderfully quirky story, full of humor, magic and intrigue! Bishop totally rocked the story with his insane attitude, bad-assery and onliners that will crack you up! I can wholeheartedly recommend Hexed to readers who enjoy a character driven plot full of magic, action, romance and with a good amount of snark to make you laugh!
Don’t you think that there are way to little books that come with a good sense of humor? Hexed has everything in the perfect dose – do you know other books that have such a wonderful combination?

This sounds really cute! I do like a fun witch story and Bishop sounds very drool-worthy. Just one question (well, two): is there a love triangle? Does the “perfect” boyfriend ditch her when weird things start happening?

Oh yes I should have mentioned the “perfect BF” … who turns out is not so perfect after all! So no Love Triangle :)))
