Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire  on goodreads:
Finally, the highly anticipated follow-up to the New York Times bestseller Beautiful Disaster. Can you love someone too much?
Travis Maddox learned two things from his mother before she died: Love hard. Fight harder. In Walking Disaster, the life of Travis is full of fast women, underground gambling, and violence. But just when he thinks he is invincible, Abby Abernathy brings him to his knees.Every story has two sides. In Beautiful Disaster, Abby had her say. Now it’s time to see the story through Travis’s eyes.

Finally the book all New Adult fans and devoted fans of Beautiful Diaster have been waiting for! Getting to read this intense story from Travis POV was a must for me, so I was more than excited getting the chance to be part of this Tour!

Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire

Two Sides of A Coin

Yep, there are always two sides. Often, we only get to read one side. And even though recent New Adult books often come with two POV – Beautiful Diaster  was solely told from Abby’s POV. For Beautiful Diaster, this worked perfectly in my opinion as it left Travis his bad boy image and left him also a little mysterious. It was hard to guess what was up in his head.

With the announcement of Walking Disaster and this intense story told now from Travis POV – fans got excited like crazy. Of course, I was one of them! I couldn’t wait to get into Travis head!

My only but major complain was that the story didn’t add much more in terms of story and side stories. It was basically the same story and I have hoped to get a little more, a little extra.

Travis – oh vulnerable bad boy!

I was most surprised to find myself connecting to Travis on a different level. I was madly in love with him when I was reading Beautiful Diaster, but hearing everything told from his POV made me see the story from a different angle. We only saw glimpses of Travis true self and insides in Beautiful Diaster, yet in Walking Disaster we see his true self, and it surprised me and made me swoon even more.

Travis is far from being the over confident jerk he likes to let everyone see. There is a lot ouf sel-doubt and a vulnerability that made this bad boy just more real. My heart broke for him when Abby constantly left him hanging. Travis has a good heart and he only wanted to love and be loved. Awww…

Bottom Line

Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire will amaze and thrill every New Adult fan and every fan of Beautiful Diaster. It shows Travis as the vulnerable boy with the hard shell he lets everyone see, but we finally get a glimpse behind the curtain and it will surprise us and make our heart melt even more for Travis Maddox!

Quote from my 4.5*  Beautiful Disaster Review:

Beautiful Disaster was intense in so many ways. It was emotionally draining and Abby’s and Travis relationship was driven with a fierceness that it’s seldom to be found in other stories. This is a book that explores the depth of human relationship in an edgy and dark way, yet there is beauty within this epic love that shines so much brighter than the darkness. Jamie McGuire wrote a brave story that was nothing more than spellbinding…

I have to admit Travis definitely made me cringe more than swoon. While I thought the book was exciting and I couldn’t put it down, I was not impressed by Travis. I am hoping that reading Walking Disaster will give me a little more insight into his character and maybe I can sympathize with him more.

  2. Awesome review Danny! I’m so glad you loved this book. I was obviously looking forward to it sooo much, but then, honestly, I wasn’t crazy about it. I liked Beautiful Disaster so much more. I don’t know why Walking Disaster didn’t do it for me.. I feel so disappointed in myself!

  6. I STILL HAVEN’T READ BEAUTIFUL DISASTER DANNY!!! What is my problem? I definitely need to meet Travis, you know how much I love a bad boy. I do like that I’ve waited a bit though, now I can read both of these back to back and revel in all the Travis bad-boyness.

Travis made me swoon AND cringe. Personally, I wouldn’t want a Travis for myself, but I think he and Abby complement each other extremely well.

I loved Beautiful Disaster, so I’m extremely excited for Walking Disaster’s release 🙂

  8. When I think about books I have read and characters that I would like to get to know better, Travis is always the person that pops into my head, so I can’t wait to read this one and finally get to know him. I am so happy that you liked it so much, I have been seeing some “meh” reviews for it so I was starting to get nervous. Fabulous review!

I have mixed feeling about Travis. I like a bad boy but not that bad. So I guess he makes me swoon but still cringe a little. I haven’t read Beautiful Disaster yet, but now I will have to. Thanks for having this giveaway.

I read Beautiful Disaster and I loved it! I think a book from Travis’ POV is awesome! It would fill in a lot of the blanks as to why he did the things he did and we could learn more about who he is. I’d be super happy if I won!

I did love Beautiful Disaster. I probably read it non-stop. My only issue with it was that Travis seemed like a caricature, like there couldn’t be a real person like him because he was so extreme. I can’t wait to read Walking Disaster because I’m hoping that reading things from his perspective will make him seem more real.

I definitely enjoyed Beautiful Disaster. But it was a hard book to read. I think that Travis made me cringe. It was hard reading about him. I am looking forward to seeing things from his point of view.
