Blog Hop and Week In Review

Yes, it ‘s Friday, dear reader, and of course this means it’s time for our weekly blog hop and round up.

The fabulous Jen at Crazy for Books is again hosting the Book Blogger Hop.

Last week Jen decided to spice the hop up with a question for each blog to answer. This week’s question: Tell us about some of your favorite authors and why they are your favorites!

Well, being that there are so many of us Bookworms, it’s hard to choose just ONE author, but we certainly do love Audrey Niffenegger, J.K. Rowling, Stephen King, Diana Gabaldon, Julia Quinn, among many, many others.

For us it usually comes down to the story. Can it whisk us away from the everyday and immerse us in another world? Can we fall so deeply in love with the characters that they become important to us on an emotional level? Is it told so well that the words are a gateway to the story and not a stumbling block? If the answer is yes, then we’re definitely loving the author for spending their time and energy on creating the gift that is a good book.

And before I let you go, here’s briefly what we’ve been up to at Bewitched Bookworms this week:

  • The bookworms signed up for Book Blogger Appreciation Week this September. We’re SO excited to get to know more book bloggers and just celebrate book blogging in general.
  • Danny and Pushy reviewed The Mermaid’s Mirror by L. K. Madigan. We loved this great book which totally turned us around on the idea of mermaids as a topic of YA books. It doesn’t come out until the fall, but you’ll definitely enjoy this slice of summer during the cold winter months.
  • Cutie’s Corner was, as usual, perfect. This installment was an off the cuff list of what’s on her reading list this week from the library. And if you’re not already reading Cutie’s Corner on a regular basis, start now! This bookworm KNOWS her books and her recommendations are always spot on.

    Hopping by – I love Stephen King, he's one of the first "adult" authors I read as a teenager. It is one of the few books I have read twice and considering reading again. I haven't read Audrey Niffenegger yet, but she's on my must-read list.
