Welcome to my favorite Feature:

“Waiting on” Wednesday is hosted weekly by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

This week, I have something super unique for you..

Eve and Adam

Expected publication: October 2012 by Feiwel & Friends
Eve and Adam by by Katherine Applegate
Sixteen-year-old Evening Spiker lives an affluent life in San Francisco with her mother, EmmaRose, a successful geneticist and owner of Spiker Biotech. Sure, Evening misses her father who died mysteriously, but she’s never really questioned it. Much like how she’s never stopped to think how off it is that she’s never been sick. That is, until she’s struck by a car and is exposed to extensive injuries. Injuries that seem to be healing faster than physically possible. While recuperating in Spiker Biotech’s lush facilities, she meets Solo Plissken, a very attractive, if off-putting boy her age who spent his life at Spiker Biotech. Like Evening, he’s never questioned anything…until now. Solo drops hints to Evening that something isn’t right, and Emma-Rose may be behind it. Evening puts this out of her mind and begins her summer internship project: To simulate the creation of the perfect boy. With the help of Solo, Evening uncovers secrets so big they could change the world completely
Ok seriously? This sounds awesome!! I mean I am Biologist myself, (PhD in stem cell research) so obviously books like this which focus on genetics is something I just love! The names sound a little weird, who would name their child “Evening” but….
But, the name Solo – totally reminds me of my hero of past times, Han Solo.. 😉
Totally want to read this!!
So, what about you my friends? Show me what you are waiting for!
Much Love,

Yeah I was confused too and thought Eve and Adam were the names of the characters, which is why I was surprised when I read the synopsis.

  2. This really sounds fabulous! 🙂
    I can’t wait for it either !
The cover is so gorgeous! <3

    You're a biologist ! 😀 😀 😀
I'm going to be one too ! (Hopefully) I'm starting college in a couple of months and I've opted for a major in Biology. If I plan to do a PhD, it'll probably be in Neuroscience or Immunology though, but Genetics sounds fantastic! 🙂
I'm so glad I met a fellow Biology lover 😀

Seriously?!?!? That’s awesome! I haven’t meet a fellow Biologist around here! Heather has a PhD in Chemistry, so that’s the closest!

I hope you love your masters – I really enjoy teaching the master students at my university!! And.. my University has an excellent program for Neuroscience one of the best world wide, just saying 🙂 lool

  4. I actually like the sound of this, but I’m not completely sure whether it’d be a book I’d really enjoy. Definitely going to wait for a few reviews first before deciding to pick it up. But I’m hoping that you’ll enjoy it once you get to read it! 🙂

Yep I can see that this would not appeal to anyone. I am a little afraid it might be similar to Possession which sounded awesome but then I didn’t like it at all..! But it’s a perfect fit for me and my profession hehe!

  5. Evening is a weird name…But this sounds really fascinating. I read Gone a few years ago and didn’t like it much, but I would still give this a chance!

Rofl it is right??? I was also a little confused about the name, but well… if it’s only the name that is weird! I haven’t read anything from Michael Grand so this one is definitely a fresh author pair for me!

I get that this might not be a book for everyone, but me? I think that’s the kind of story I have to read, I love the combination of science and dystopian. I’m always intrigued how the authors research and how much for this is already real science!

  7. That’s an awesome pick! I’m a scientist myself and pretty geeky. So that’s right up my alley. I just hope the author did the actual science at least kind of realistic 😀
I have to add this book to my TBR list right now.

    You are?? What’s your topic?

And this is exactly what kind of things interest me too, how the authors do their research and how much real science they wave into their fiction. I just read The Lost Code and there, they actually talked about science that although it sounded like fiction was actual real, I liked this a lot!

I’m a biochemist. So I guess we are doing similar work 🙂
The Lost Code? I haven’t heard of this one, but I’m always up for decent science in fiction. I also appreciate that non-scientists can then learn something about science.

Oh yes we totally do!! We do lot’s of biochemie on our lab too. And between you and me, the biochemists are always better educated than our biologist. but, scheet, don’t tell! LOL

  8. I saw this last week and I agree it sounds so good, genetic engineering all kinds of things can go wrong with that. I love some good sci fi. I also really like the cover. This is definitely one to watch for. Happy Wednesday, Danny.

Love genetic engineering I just hope the author adds a little of real science to make this fictional story more real! 🙂
