As much as we love books and reading at the Bookworms, we also love watching our favorite TV Shows. So we decided to talk semi-regularly about TV shows, or Movies here at the Bookworms and we hope you’ll also love talking about these stories with us!

Cinema icons flat1And today, I’d love to talk about a TV Show that just premiered April 17th and .. it’s yet another supernatural TV shows, but this time – it’s about Angels!

I do love all kinds of supernatural creatures and I loved reading paranormal, so this show seems like a Must-Watch for me!

I love this promo pic!!

Here is the description found on wiki:

A mysterious object plummets to Earth, sending out a shock wave that causes five strangers to die, only to miraculously come back to life moments later.

The members of the group are Vera (Shantel VanSanten), a struggling radio-astronomer living in New Mexico who is searching for her missing son; Erin (Sofia Black-D’Elia), a young mother in Tucson, Arizona who is desperate to protect her seven-year-old daughter Amy from her abusive policeman ex-husband; Peter (Joel Courtney), a troubled high school student and orphan in Little Rock, Arkansas; Raul (J.D. Pardo), a federal agent in Mexico who is looking to escape his dangerous and violent undercover assignment; and Joshua (Jon Fletcher), a charismatic second-generation televangelist in Houston, Texas.

Most mysterious of all is the figure known only as The Man (Diogo Morgado), who offers Vera the location of her abducted son if she will help him with one morally complicated task which puts her on a collision course with Rose (Anna Diop), a nurse in Houston who has been in a coma for seven years after being shot by an unknown hitman.

Drawn together by fate and biblical prophecy, the “Messengers” soon learn they now have supernatural gifts that might be the only hope for preventing the impending Rapture..” source – wikipedia

Honestly I was sold when I saw the promo images and my hopes are pretty high for this show. Even though the “stopping the apocalypse” theme is kind of old, it can be pretty exciting… (yes, I just used “exciting” and apocalypse” in one sentence.. but you get my point!)

The Messengers Evil

So why should we watch it?

  • It’s about Angels guys! I mean yes, I admit I love all kinds of supernatural creatures (maybe apart from Zombies… but iZombie is kind of cool and the exception), and Angels are no exception! So bring on the winged creatures!
  • Impending doom of humankind!! This just never gets old. Even though Sam and Dean have been and keep working on saving us from the apocalypse. (Let’s take a second to swoon over Sam and Dean… *swoon*)
  • There is this sexy bad bad BAD boy.. or.. angel… that might be the devil!  Ok right now, he’s still pretty bad and wants to get going with the apocalypse but.. somehow I think there is more to him.. (please let there be more!)

The Messenger Cast

The illustrious cast – and right there in the middle next to the pretty blond in the white dress (love her!!) is our devilish bad boy..

And… who watched the first episodes? Me! of course! Me!

Ok I’m being honest, the first episodes didn’t blow me away and I’m still a little on the fence if this will be an exciting show … or … not. Some of the characters seem quite of fascinating and I’m eager to see more of them.

Also, I guess I should give the series a few more episodes to really get going..

What about you?  Did you watch the first episodes? Do you want to watch the show or just not interested?
