Welcome to TV Tuesday here on Bewitched Bookworms,  and we’re bringing you a new feature where we share our favorite television series with our fellow Bookworms and with you,  our lovely readers.

Cinema icons flat1

I Dare You To Watch is a feature where one of the Bookworms picks one of their favorite television series that at least one of the other two Bookworms hasn’t had the chance to watch yet. After explaining what they love so much about this show, the newbies will watch an episode (preferably episode 1 of season 1) and will come back in two weeks and give their verdict. Did they like it? Will they be checking out more episodes? Did they go on a Netflix binge?

2 Weeks Ago Heather Dared us to watch the CW’s new series,

The Flash

About THE FLASH Pilot (Season 1 Episode 1):

Barry Allen, a forensic crime scene assistant for Central City Police Department, is struck by lightning during a storm that is created after a particle accelerator from S.T.A.R. Labs explodes. In a coma for nine months, Barry awakens in S.T.A.R. Labs, having been placed in the care of his scientist idol, Dr. Harrison Wells, along with his assistants, Dr. Caitlin Snow and Cisco Ramon. Barry quickly learns that he can move at extraordinary speeds, and that there were other “metahumans” created from the explosion. One of them, Clyde Mardon, is robbing banks with his ability to control the weather. In order to stop Clyde, Barry is outfitted with a suit that can withstand his high speed of movement. He tracks down Mardon and with the help of Detective West, who learns of Barry’s abilities, Barry is able to stop Mardon. With his new powers, Barry vows to find out who killed his mother when he was a child, believing him to be another metahuman who has similar abilities of speed as he. Elsewhere, in a secret room at S.T.A.R Labs, Wells reveals he is not paraplegic, while reading a newspaper from the future concerning Barry’s fate as the Flash.

So Heather dared us to watch The Flash and of course we took the dare! I already watched The Arrow and saw the Cross-Over intro of The Flash. Barry Allen – The Flash was so adorable that it was actually an easy dare to me.

So here is what happened:

I got the first episode of The Flash on iTunes watched it … and then went back and bought a Season pass immediately so that I could catch up!

Yup, I was that easily hooked on The Flash!

Why, you might ask?

Grant Gustin who plays The Flash is absolutely adorable! He plays his character with the perfect mix of dorkiness, geekiness (he’s a science geek!!), wittiness and sincerity. Oh and he can be pretty damn bad-ass too and kick some major ass! Woot!

I can’t think of anyone who would have been better for this role!

More Geeky Characters!!

I love the cast of characters in The Flash. Besides Barry there is also his Team that works with him and makes him stronger and each of them are equally intriguing and well flashed out. Especially Cisco and Caitlin are so damn cute in their geekiness!

How does it compare to The Arrow and the DC universe??

Even though it’s set in the same universe, The Flash it completely different in tone. It’s much brighter in colors and not so dark as The Arrow, it has also a different humor and general feels a little younger. The Arrow is grittier. But still, I love both for different reasons!

And… I love the Cross – Over Episodes! Actually… I’m just stuck with Episode 8 right now and …have to leave you now to go and watch Episode 9 so that I can finally catch up! !

Who was with us? Who also took watched The Flash? Are you also just not catching on? Or did you watch it from the beginning and love it already?

  1. I’m so behind on this show it’s ridiculous. I think I might have a mini marathon this evening. I watched the first few episodes, but I think after the cross-over one I just . . . stopped. Like, I got a little bit bored? But everyone is raving about how good it’s gotten, so I think I need to give it another go
