#1 New York Times bestselling author Ilona Andrews launches a brand new Hidden Legacy series, in which one woman must place her trust in a seductive, dangerous man who sets off an even more dangerous desire…
Nevada Baylor is faced with the most challenging case of her detective career—a suicide mission to bring in a suspect in a volatile case. Nevada isn’t sure she has the chops. Her quarry is a Prime, the highest rank of magic user, who can set anyone and anything on fire.
Then she’s kidnapped by Connor “Mad” Rogan—a darkly tempting billionaire with equally devastating powers. Torn between wanting to run or surrender to their overwhelming attraction, Nevada must join forces with Rogan to stay alive.
Rogan’s after the same target, so he needs Nevada. But she’s getting under his skin, making him care about someone other than himself for a change. And, as Rogan has learned, love can be as perilous as death, especially in the magic world
As much as I love reading Young Adult every once in awhile I need a good outbreak into my second favourite genre which is Adult, Urban and Ilona Andrews is most definitely one of these authors where you know you can’t do anything wrong. I was eagerly excited when I got a copy of her new series Hidden Legacy at BEA from my friend Mary!
Detective Agency mixed with Magical Powers!
Seriously, already the setting was pretty much awesome and compelling right from the start. Nevada is a strong woman, who runs the family business of an Detective Agency and supports her whole family emotionally as well as financially. This very much contemporary setting is mixed with magical being out in the open since the middle ages. Those special people are considered royalty, are organised in houses that rule the city – but Nevada is not one of them. However, one of these houses more or less own her agency due to unfortunate circumstanced when her father died.
When Nevada is forced to investigate a case where a Prime (one of the super powerfully houses) is involved she’s thrown right into the middle of something much bigger, and which could cost her everything!
Phenomenal kick ass heroine! Go Girl!
I loved Nevada! She was one of these strong heroines, we all love and cheer for! She didn’t take crap from anyone, and stood strong even among the super powerful Prime Magical Users! She stood especially strong against the two Alpha Male that suddenly appear in her life. And damn, I loved our girl with them so much! I’ll come to the boys in a second 🙂
And even when Nevada realises how attracted she is to Rowan, she stays true to herself, not wanting a causal relationship even though her body desperately wants to.
Oh these Alpha Males!
Of course, one of the highlights of Burn for Me were the men! Rowan, the super prime who forces Nevada to let him help her (of course, he has his own reasons …) was the perfect infuriating alpha male who drives everyone nuts with his mega ego, but then also are these men that woman all over swoon over. And yes, also me and … yes Nevada too, even though she hates it! Then there is Adam, who is the one Nevada is hired to retrieve but it also quite an interesting male specimen!
Burn For Me was an absolutely fantastic kick off into a new series, which I am sure will be one of my favourite series to follow from here on! It comes with an incredible kick ass heroine, which I love to pieces and who is easily to be admired for her strength and awesomeness! Then, there is the delicious addition of the classic infuriating alpha male who makes all women (including me) swoon over!
If you love Urban Fantasy with action and romance mingled perfectly together – then this is a Must -Read!
