A deliciously charming novel about finding true love . . . and yourself.

Nothing ever happens in Little, CA. Which is just the way Carter Moon likes it. But when Hollywood arrives to film a movie starring former child star turned PR mess Adam Jakes, everything changes.

Carter's town becomes a giant glittery set and, much to her annoyance, everyone is starry-eyed for Adam. Carter seems to be the only girl not falling all over herself to get a glimpse of him. Which apparently makes her perfect for the secret offer of a lifetime: playing the role of Adam's girlfriend while he's in town, to improve his public image, in exchange for a hefty paycheck. Her family really needs the money and so Carters agrees. But it turns out Adam isn't at all who she thought he was.

As they grow closer, their relationship walks a blurry line between what's real and what's fake, and Carter must open her eyes to the scariest of unexplored worlds - her future. Can Carter figure out what she wants out of life AND get the guy? Or are there no Hollywood endings in real life?

I have a soft spot for stories with the girl from a small town meeting the big hollywood celebrity. It’s one of the themes that seem to always work for me and draw me in!

Fake Love to save your family!

Carter is a girl from a small town who just loves her family and also the family business, which is a small café run by her father. But, as idyllic that all sounds, there is a dark spot on her family and especially Carter struggles a lot with it.  When Hollywood decided to film a movie in her small town, and she is asked to play the small-town girlfriend as main cast and deliciously sexy Adam, she decided to take this unusual arrangement to save her family.

Among the many things I loved about Carter is her being so wonderfully down to earth and just genuinely contempt with her life in a small town. She never cared about Hollywood or celebrities and this whole world feels very foreign to her. But Carter would do anything for her family, so when she has the chance to help, she just does it!

Adorable and oh so damn cute!

The whole story is just insanely cute. It’s one of these Contemporaries you just gotta love. There is some slow developing romance between Adam and Carter the felt very genuine and not forced. In the beginning the do not much care for each other and Adam seems to be distracted and also does not care much for Carter. But as they are forced to spend more time together, they get to know each other and see behind the walls both of them build to protect themselves. I can’t find other words to describe it than adorable and so wonderfully cute!

Adam, you need to know him to love him!

I actually also liked the progression of Adams real character. It took some time for him to open up and get rid of the attitude he usually always carries around. But we very quickly understand that there is more to him than it meets the eye and Adam has his own issues to deal with.

However, as deeply we connected with Carter and understand her as a person, as lacking was our real connection with Adam to some extent. I wished we would have gotten more from him. I feel like we just scratched the surface and there is much more to him. I would have loved to get to know him better.

Bottom Line

Catch a Falling Star by Kim Culbertson was an adorable romance set in the backdrop of an idyllic small town and the allure of hollywood. Carter was a wonderful down to earth girl who was easy to love. Adam was swoon worthy enough to fall for him, but I would have loved to get to know better.

  1. I was a small town girl and I couldn’t possible fathom a relationship with a celebrity. Although I have met some local ones and weren’t really starstruck. Maybe it would be different if it were my Hollywood crushes. Haha! Although I do love reading books like this. It feels like living a life I won’t have. I love adorable contemporaries so much. I wasn’t really sure about reading this one but I am now convinced. 😀

  2. Sounds cute! I’ve always liked those kinds of stories. A few years ago I read a fun twist on the Cinderella story that sounds like it had some similar scenarios to this one. I’m sure I’ll like this one too. 🙂 Thanks for the review!
