Death, Doom and Detention
The normal part of Lorelei MacAlister’s life didn’t just slip away quietly the day Jared Kovach came to town. Nope. The normal part of her life shattered. It exploded. It burst into a gazillion shards of fleeting light. It went out with a bang.Goodbye normal.
Hello dark and eerie.
While her best friend, Brooklyn, is focusing all of her energy on helping Lorelei hone her abilities, Lorelei is dealing with the reality that Satan’s second in command has taken up residence inside her body. Oh, and the fact that she has a crush on the Angel of Death. But what a beautiful death it is. If those weren’t bad enough, something sinister has come to town and it wants nothing more than to hear Lorelei’s dying breath as it strangles it out of her. Thank goodness the gang has a supernatural champion. But what happens when the only being who can save them switches sides midstream? How can a group of misfits capture one of the most powerful beings ever created? And will they find out how to bring Jared back to them before it’s too late?Â
Well, I am a big fan of Darynda Jones and love her Adult Series to pieces. Her Young Adult series is nothing less awesome, so I was excited to pick up the sequel! Read my Review about the  first book: Death and the Girl Next Door.
Paranormal Danger and Life turned upside down!
Lorelei had a lot to face in the first book and needless to say she won’t get to catch her breath in the sequel. Now that she knows about her heritage and the demon inside of her she tries to deal with all these revelations and still tries to have a normal life. Not that easy! Especially since she fell in love with Jared who is nothing else than the Angel of Death and you never know if he will turn good or bad.
This sequel is not short on action and new paranormal mysteries that need to be uncovered!
Lush Cast of amazing Characters
What I love most about this series are the characters and their interactions. Each Character is carefully crafted and fitted into the grand scheme of things. Darynda Jones also loves to add in  a good amount of snark and sarcasm which I always love!  I love their friendship the family bonds with her grandparents and the slow progressing romance. As I love Jared so much I was a little disappointed by his lack of appearance in this sequel even thought it was perfectly understandable for the storyline. I just missed seeing Lorelei and Jared together, and would have wished for more development in this direction.
Epic Battle of Good and Evil
Apart from the amazing characters, the series comes with an epic storyline sourrounding good, evil and the grey zones in between. This is something I also enjoy in her adult series. Nothing is just black and white, there are grey zones in between that I love when being explored. Even though the story starts off a little slow, it picks up pace and ends with an especially cruel cliffhanger, something I usually despise, but since I know that the next book is not far I can tolerate the cruelty 🙂
Bewitched Rating
Bottom Line
Death, Doom and Detention by Darynda Jones is the perfectly crafted sequel to a phenomenal Young Adult Paranormal Series that fans of this genre will love to pieces. It comes with an amazingly lush cast of characters and the perfect amount of snark. It’s fun, sexy and thrilling and I urge you all to pick it up!

I’m about 20% through this book. I’m just about to put up my review for the first book and will post this review on Tuesday. It’s a really fun series. I definitely want to read her adult books. I’ve heard they’re even better.

NOOOOOOO! No cliffhanger Danny! *sobs* It does make it better that book 3 isn’t a year away, but still all these YA cliffhangers are going to give me a stress induced ulcer. I can almost feel it forming now:) Can’t wait to read this though, so glad to know you liked it, especially after the couple of books we’ve had trouble with lately:)

I’ve only read book 1 of her adult series, but I really liked it, so I was a bit disappointed that I didn’t love the first book in this series. I loved Lorelei’s relationship with Brooklyn and Glitch and the humor was decent, but I found some of the stuff at the end to be a bit too goofy and, though I usually love me a bad boy, I’d rather see Lorelei with Cameron, I just loved him!

Oh yes Cameron was amazing!!! Maybe you like this one better? Sometimes you need to give a series at least another try… :))
but, I’m excited to hear you love her adult series 🙂

Okay, I just skimmed because I haven’t read the first book. Big surprise, I have it, but haven’t read it. But I’m getting the feeling from other reviewers as well that this one delivers well as a second novel. I didn’t really realize this was a paranormal series until I started to reading the reviews for this book. So cool. Now I have to move it up in my stack!
