It’s me, the relatively quiet, Uhyesplease! And I’m here to tell you about a new feature we’re debuting tomorrow here at Bewitched Bookworms. The whole idea started, one day while Pushy and I were chatting, I had this idea to challenge her in reading a book that I adore, that normally she wouldn’t pick up to read herself. (ie – I’ve told her again and again to read this book and she hadn’t yet!)
When I told her about my idea, and for her to challenge me also, she was thrilled. We did it like an old school draw.
3 – 2 – 1 – SPILL!
I chose The Outlander by Diana Gabaldon for her.
She chose The Duke and I by Julia Quinn for me.
We both added the books to our library hold lists and away we went!
Now, the only kink (not THAT kind, you dirty birds) was that my library apparently lied and said they had the book, and didn’t. So, Pushy kindly sent me her very own personal SIGNED copy! Seriously – Pushy is a one-of-a-kind sort of gal! I made sure it was kept out of the way of drink spills and sticky 17 month old fingers.
Besides the fact that Pushy hadn’t read the famous start to the Outlander books that many of us have, I actually chose this book because I thought she’d love it. Sci-fi and crazy detailed that it is, I loved the action and romance of Jamie and Claire. Even though I could rant and rave on how much I disliked the latest book in the series, the first book is still the shining star for me.
Take it away, Pushy:
Well, of course I loved this idea! And I’ve been trying to get my Bookworms into reading a bit more of the ROMANCE genre, but with little success. Yes, I know that historical romance gets a bad rep but smart girls like the smexy times, too!! Anyway, as soon as UYP suggested this, I thought, “Score! You’re reading a JQ book NOW!”
We will be putting up our reviews on Wednesday for our respective books – and please chime in if you agree or disagree on our thoughts about them.
Also, if any of you book bloggers and commentors would like to challenge one of us to read one of your absolutely favorites, we’d love to exchange with you for one of ours! Just shoot us an email and challenge away!
