My Thoughts:

The Clairmont siblings are known as the Tribe of Five in their town, and with four brothers and just one sister left to fend for themselves after their parents died in a plane crash, every one of them has floundered in one way or another–even if they outwardly seem successful. Ruby Ink tells the story of brother Aaron and his first love Ruby, and how it all goes so wrong before some things can turn right again.

Sweet, Innocent First Love Turned Sour By Deception…

Ruby is known as the town virgin at 20 years old and Aaron is known as a bit of a playboy at six years her senior, but their relationship develops slowly and they both patiently wait for Ruby to be ready to take the next step. Once they both get there, their romance is hot, steamy, and looking to be headed for more permanent arenas–that is until Aaron tries to shoot Ruby’s father, who is the mayor of their town. Both of their worlds come tumbling down, when Aaron’s drug dealing double life comes out into the open and Ruby now has to live with his deceit.

Gone, but not forgotten…

Aaron is serving a 25 year sentence for his crimes when he’s suddenly granted an early release. He finds himself back in his family home with his catering entrepreneur sister Honor and his youngest brother Troy, who is now 20 years old and quite troubled. Memories of Ruby assault Aaron from everywhere, from his bedroom and his house, to his new place of employment–the inn and beach that Ruby and Aaron spent many days and nights making plans and happy memories together before everything blew up in their faces. He dives into the work that his sister secured for him at the new inn, but he doesn’t trust his new employer, and rightfully so because the new boss turns out to be engaged to someone from Aaron’s past who stirs up a whirlwind of trouble that he wasn’t exactly looking for.

Danger around every corner with revenge on the horizon…

Aaron is the type of man that will jump in front of a bullet for those that he loves, and when he finds himself and Ruby in the cross hairs of a man hellbent on revenge, Aaron will do anything to save their asses. But Ruby is unsure of her loyalties and is leery of Aaron because of what he did to her father, so he might not be able to save her from herself. But the attraction between them is still there after seven years, and God help them, neither one can stay away from the other no matter what the consequences.

So many mysteries left yet to explore…

We’ve yet to meet the Hollywood actor brother Jake in person yet, and it looks like former military Alec might get answers to what really happened to their parents and the plane crash that they thought killed them in South America in the next book. How did Honor’s boyfriend die? There’s just so much I need to know! Will Aaron go legit, and will Ruby and Aaron get their happily ever after? I could go on and on…

I give Ruby Ink a 4.5 out of 5. This is a new to me author, and I really enjoyed L.J. Wilson’s writing. The writing was fast-paced and thrilling, and let me tell you, this book was chock full of steamy, sensual, and hot sex. A few characters were unapologetic about what they liked in bed, and it was very refreshing to read something with a bit more oomph. The mystery of the characters’ connections was revealed pretty slowly, but I didn’t get bored since the characters were emotionally going through the ringer and I really connected with them. I cannot wait for book two so I can dig deeper into the mysteries that are the Clairmont family!

I could never forgive anyone for shooting at my Father. And I am tired of bad boys. I would just like to find a nice man to spend my life with.

I’m a bit tired of bad boys too, Vicki, but that’s what’s so good about Ruby Ink. Aaron seems like a bad boy to those around him that don’t know him, but thanks to the book being from his perspective for the first half, you really get to see that he’s just made some really bad decisions–there’s someone so much worse around the corner just waiting to ruin everyone’s lives. Plus, Aaron never told anyone what was really going on around the attempt on Ruby’s father’s life, and once that comes out, you see that he is such a great man. I definitely recommend this steamy, romantic suspense.
