Welcome to a new feature that will be running every Tuesday for the month of May….
Book Expo America is coming!
If you’re a book blogger in the US (or anywhere in the world) then you know that BEA is like candyland for us! One week, one convention center, one hundred percent book awesomeness!!! And for the second year in a row, the Bookworms are going to be in the house!
Last year, when Danny, Heather and I headed off to NY for BEA, we had almost no idea what to expect. We were excited and nervous and desperate to get some idea of what lay ahead of us. We talked with bloggy friends who had gone before, we had read all the posts we could find at other sites but still…we just didn’t know!
Of course, it’s hard to explain what to expect at such a large function when experiences vary widely. One blogger might go to BEA soley to network with publishers while another is there for the signing gallery. One blogger may have strolled through the immense network of booths, slowly savoring all there was to offer while another may have rushed like a mad woman from booth to booth to get those prized ARCs. So how can you tell what BEA will be like for you when you’ve never gone before?
Honestly, you probably can’t. But that’s not going to stop us from trying!
What is BEA2U?
So BEA2U will be a weekly feature we’ll be hosting here at Bewitched Bookworms in May. We’re planning on giving you the scoop on what our experiences were like, some information we think all bloggers can use, be it your first time or not, and then we’re going to take you with us to BEA but vlogging from NY next month!
Yup, you’ll get to see Danny, Heather, Pushy and Kristin this year, in all our sleepy, post-BEA glory as we vlog about the day, what we saw, who we met, what we learned and anything else you might want to know!
But of course there’s more…
So we know not everyone can go to BEA. It takes time and money and let’s face it, everyone’s short on both these days, right? But you know we love you, dear reader, so of course, we’r egoing to make sure we’ve got you covered!
So for the next few weeks, we’ll be bringing you more than just information. We’ll be bringing you AWESOME GIVE-AWAYS!!!
I (Danny) guess you know us by know, we love to share and we love to make people happy, so that’s why each week we’re going to be having a phenomenal Giveaway and since BEA is not just about books but also about meeting Authors. Especially for me, who lives in Germany and does not have the chance to meet all those awesome authors it’s an incredibly opportunity! I loved every author I was able to meet! WE will have some pictures for you during the next weeks…
But, now onto the epic Giveaway we have for you..
Pushy is going to attend the Launch Party on May 8th in Anderson’s Book Shop (Naperville) from Cassandra Clare’s new “Book City of Lost Souls”. Yep that’s right! This lucky chick lives in Chicago were all the aweome authors are stopping by. (*insert jealous glare from Danny here*)

Great giveaway! But I’m more excited for the feature, because I’m planning to go to BEA. I want to know how to schedule my days. I’ve looked at the website, but I’m not sure how to break everything down. Also, I’d love to see what a typical day looks like from the time you get up to the time you go to bed. I’d like some discussion about whether the BBC is worth it.

omg! I cannot believe that I may be able to meet you all! I am SO excited to see what you’ll be sharing here! This will be my first time going to BEA! The funny part is, I’ll only be able to go in for one day, lol! I am already very nervous about what I should do and where I should go, please help! lol!

Thank you, guys for this! I think your idea is nice especially for those who can’t go to this year’s BEA *cough*. hehe. At least we get to read on what’s happening/happened in BEA. It’s not just about the books but also meeting the authors and fellow booklovers. Nice! It’s one of my dreams to attend one. Danny! I’m so happy you’ll get to attend this year!

BEA! CASSANDRA CLARE!!! This will be my first year to BEA and I’m so excited! You can bet I’ll be reading every post I can find about it because it all looks so overwhelming! I’m so excited to see John Green, and Cat Valente, and Lois Lowry….the list goes on and on!

SUCH a great idea you guys! I know that despite all the research I did ahead of time and all the people I talked to, BEA was still a huge surprise and completely disorienting that first day. It would have been awesome to read a feature like this last year to help me prepare!

Totally agree, we also did all the research and read tons of posts but I was still immensely overwhelmed by all this. However, what helped is that we all were not alone. We could share all this with our girls and this was awesome!! I didn’t feel alone!!!
And clearly, one of my highlights was meeting you! No Kidding”!

Totally jealous of you all going to BEA! My librarian friend Karin from KarinsBookNook(and the edgy half of edifyingandedgy) has gone before and loved it! One of these days maybe I’ll get to go(but there is always that money issue eh?). Enjoy your time together! How fun to all get to meet in one place! Oh I know Karin’s blog!!! Sadly, I have to agree – money is always an issue, but this also highly depends on where you come from and where do you decide to stay. There are always blogger that look for a roommate and this makes the whole event cheaper.

I was so excited to go to BEA this year since I live like 30 minutes from the city but unfortunately I have no money to go. So I really apreciate this feature & hopefully i’ll be able to go next year since I’ll be studing right there in the city. So thanks for the giveaway!

Awwww!! Thanks so much for your excitement!!! Truly, I’m more than excited seeing my girls again and spend some time together with them! Last year I was too overwhelmed to take a lot of pictures, but this year I promised myself to get more pics and also we decided to this Vlog’s in the evening! OoOOOo this feature will be even more than 2 weeks!! It will go 5weeks and then the real week of BEA!!!!
We were sooo freaking overwhelmed before, but it all worked out perfectly!! We did stress too much, but then, we also read tons of posts like this to catch a least a tiny idea about what to expect!!!

I am going for first time and am so nervous and excited! I am doing a BEA feature. I hope I can go all days. I can’t go the first but can go the last 3. I am going alone unless my BBF Kayla Bengal Reads is going. That’s ok cuz I can meet others. Despite crippling shyness on my part, I know I will meet awesum ppl!

Thatnks so much for this feature! This will be my first time going and I am very excited to see what BEA has in store for me. They have so many authors this year! I have been reading up on BEA for a while but no one really explains what the other events are like, such as the BBC or the Author Breakfasts. Will you be covering those as well? And I have been hearing bloggers talk about publisher’s parties and things: what are they and are they invitation only, do you know? I really appreciate this. One thing about those parties: Yes, they are invite only and … we also didn’t get any invite – this is still a mystery to me. But there are anyway tons of other events which are open for everyone – this is where we will heading :)) Or just hanging out with our friends, catching up and having some fun!

I would like to know what you think is important to do when you get there. Would you try to make connections with publishers if this was your first time and how awkward is that? And I don’t think there would be a blogger there that could resist the authors. What’s your strategy there if you’re going by yourself? I think, if you could stand me, I’d just tag along after you guys. Planning makes me stress out. I’d be so overwhelmed I think I’d just cry! But don’t worry, I won’t be there this year. I won’t stalk you! LOL I can’t wait to read these posts. I might go one year. The Book Faery and I say next year. We’ll see.
