Welcome to the Pre-Squee, a new weekly feature here at the Bookworms and at The Book Swarm. Some books, though they might not be coming out for a few months, need an early squee — we just can’t hold in our excitement about them! Sure, we’ll do full reviews closer to the release date but this feature gives us a chance to share a little bit of our love, whether it be for the story, cover, characters, or whatever. We’re quite flexible in our book love.
So today we Squee aboutÂ

This riveting fantasy marks Melissa Marr’s return to the world of faery courts that made her Wicked Lovely series an international phenomenon.
Lilywhite Abernathy is a criminal—she’s half human, half fae, and since the time before she was born, a war has been raging between humans and faeries. The Queen of Blood and Rage, ruler of the fae courts, wants to avenge the tragic death of her heir due to the actions of reckless humans.
Lily’s father has always shielded her, but when she’s sent to the prestigious St. Columba’s school, she’s delivered straight into the arms of a fae sleeper cell—the Black Diamonds. The Diamonds are planted in the human world as the sons and daughters of the most influential families and tasked with destroying it from within. Against her will, Lilywhite’s been chosen to join them…and even the romantic attention of the fae rock singer Creed Morrison isn’t enough to keep Lily from wanting to run back to the familiar world she knows.
Melissa Marr returns to faery in a dramatic story of the precarious space between two worlds and the people who must thrive there. The combination of ethereal fae powers, tumultuous romance, and a bloodthirsty faery queen will have longtime fans and new readers at the edge of their seats
I loooove Melissa Marr – she is the Queen of dark and edgy Young Adult paranormal and I loved her Wicked Lovely series so so much! I also really liked Carnival of Souls, but I was excited when I heard about her new series “Seven Black Diamonds” Where she is going to revisit Faeries. Woot!
And … “Seven Black Diamonds” was awesome! It’s exactly what I was hoping for when picking up this new story. It has romance, it’s a little darker and just a little edgier. The “Seven Black Diamonds” are some kind of Sleeper Faries that live among the humans but are send there to kill. What is also interesting but wasn’t explored too much in this first book, was the fact that “Seven Black Diamonds” explores a world where Faries are known to humans but are feared so much that they are killed or imprisioned on sight. That is why the Queen of Blood & Rage created these Sleeper Faerie Bloods. The concept is intriguing an the characters pretty amazing and I’m eager to find out more about them. This seems like it’s very much a “Melissa Marr” book and I hope she’s going to to continue this series as there is so much room for good and amazing storytelling!

I used to adore Melissa Marr’s fairy books and then I stopped reading them for some reason. I always loved them but I just lost interest. I’m glad to see she’s writing about them again and this one sounds awesome. Glad you loved it. Great mini review!
