Ok, so I am a huge fan of J.R Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood Series and I completely admire her as an author so much, that I was extremely excited when I read about this new series she’s going to write, which sounds so completely different!
A rich wealthy family – The Kings of the South, and all their little and big Dramas!
The Bradford family belongs to the rich, super rich and famous and they have been since generations. But that does not make them happy, on the contrary this family is completely messed up and we just slowly slowly begin how much! The pacing is rather slow, but then you have to be intruded to so many characters: Parents, 3 Brothers and 1 Sister. However, one of the brothers gets more “screen time” and might function as the main lead character in this book. Tulane comes back to the family estate and brings all his anger, issues and secrets with him – but… with all the other secrets and betrayals he seems to be the only one who might be able to rescue this family from complete ruin!
I really do not want to spoil anything that is going on the depth of this family – but I really loved the way each secret is being revealed. The more we learn the more we see how truly screwed up this family is! I loved getting to know more and I loved the surprises and shocking secrets! J.R Ward is truly a master storyteller!
An Epic Family Saga! This will be a huge series!
This is going to be such an epic family saga which has just begun. I am excited to learn more about this family and I hope that all the kids will find peace at the end, but right now we are far far away from peace and happiness! It’s not a very fast paced story, but this also wouldn’t have worked, we needed time to adjust to each new storyline before shifting to another one. And J.R. Ward managed to introduce all these characters, all these subplots and secrets and mysteries without me feeling lost, which can happen quite fast with so many different aspects. But then again, J.R. is an incredible author who carefully tagged us along the story. I can see how huge this series is going to be, and I personally can’t wait for the next !

The Bourbon Kings by J.R. Ward is an amazing and outstanding kick-off into an epic family saga that is filled with secrets, mysteries and betrayals! J.R. Ward introduces us carefully to this family with all their different members and storylines and thanks to a fantastic author you will not get lost along the way. On the contrary the more you read, the more you want to know!

I love series that focus on different members of a family in each book 🙂 I haven’t read any of J.R. Ward’s books but the Black Dagger Brotherhood series is on my TBR list, and now this too! Thanks for the great review 🙂
