Anna Whitt, the daughter of a guardian angel and a demon, promised herself she’d never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She’d been naive to make such a vow. She’d been naive about a lot of things.
Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means embracing her dark side and earning an unwanted reputation as her school’s party girl. Her life has never looked more bleak. And all the while there’s Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.
When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of Wrath, in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim and give them hope for the first time. It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life?
Do I have to start with how much I loved Sweet Evil the first book in this phenomenal series? I guess everyone who follows my reviews and posts know how insanely I am in love with Sweet Evil and Wendy Higgins. Especially since the sequel was up in the air for so long, it feels even sweeter (….) that we now finally get to read the full story of Anna and sexy Kai.
Heartbreak
By the end of Sweet Evil we were up for a dangerous heartbreak as we all know wondered how Kai and Anna could be together, ever. so, with the beginning of Sweet Peril we are already sad and heartbroken and .. Anna’s pure little heart is no less broken and sad. The whole story of Sweet Evil centers around 2 major important plots and one of them is definitely the epic love between the Demon Son and the Angel Daughter. Evil and Pure – how can they be together? This is what we desperately want to figure out ourselves and I warn you know – tears will fall, hearts will break. And I am not just talking about Anna and Kai because my little heart just felt with them!
Anna – the pure little Angel-Demon …
While Anna was completely innocent in Sweet Evil she now has to start “working” for her Dad so keep up appearance and to fool all the other Dukes and Demons. And we must admire Anna strength and strong will because behaving like this feels totally out fo context for her. But Anna grows and I think we see a remarkable change in Anna. She appears even stronger, more determined than ever and even goes totally out of her comfort zone. I cannot help but admire this girl!! I loved Anna so much already in Sweet Evil – but I love her even more fiercely in Sweet Peril! She combines perfectly her Angel and demonic heritance and becomes a little more edgy 🙂
Sex on Legs or… Kai !
Ok I know I shouldn’t associate Sex On Leg with a YA novel, but I just cannot help it when talking about Kaidan Rowe. This sexy demon-son is everything I love in a bad boy – he’s incredibly sexy, mega hot, he can be  a total jerk (and yes, especially in Sweet Peril we see a lot of his jerkiness!!) but he has a heart and as much as he doesn’t want his heart to take over, we can see and we love him for this even more! Kai – sexy, dangerous and so sooo stubborn and with a heart he only opens up for Anna, how can we not love him??
Love and Danger ….
One of the main storylines followed Anna’s search for Allies around the world. I loved this part so much! It not only brought us to different places but also introduces a wonderful supporting character we all will love so much – Kopano – Son of Wrath who helps and support Anna on her journey! What seems to be obvious from the synopsis is the introduction of a Love Triangle. But fear not, Wendy Higgins deals so delicately and perfectly with it, that it doesn’t truly hurt, but was completely genuine and understandable! You can only be pushed so much… right? This whole sequel was just amazing, full of love, passion, danger and heartbreak. Girls who easily cry just like me will most definitely shed a tear or two….
Bewitched Rating
Bottom Line
Sweet Peril by Wendy Higgins was a fantastic sequel full of love, passion and heartbreak. Wendy Higgins delivered a perfectly balanced and super exciting sequel that comes with wonderful character development and a thrilling plot that will make you tear up!
Be ready to swoon Girls – Kai is back!

Nope haven’t read Sweet Evil yet but I am fully aware I will be chastised for this and yet, here I am willing to read the review of the sequel. That’s just how I am. I knew your name was going to be in there along with Jenny’s. I don’t know Tara but all three of you must be so freaking excited. Especially since she described you as blonde and gave you a European accent! That’s really you in the book!!!
I think you should frame a couple of copies and always have a copy of two lying around at that page. “Oh, yeah, the author wrote me in her book. That’s me.” Danny says with a shrug of her (european) shoulders!
I’ll cry. I cry easy so I will. I will read these two back to back.

I LOVED Sweet Evil! I was lucky enough to get my copy signed by Wendy Higgins herself last summer, and she is so nice! I’ve had Sweet Peril pre-ordered for more than a month now – the wait is almost over!! Great review – you made me want to read it even moreso now!

I remember how much you loved Sweet Evil (or Kaidan 😉 ) .
I’m glad to hear that you love this one even more than Sweet Evil. It’s always amazing when a sequel lives up to the predecessor!
Although I didn’t love Sweet Evil as much as you did, I enjoyed the ending and the promise of a more developed world building in the sequel, which is why I’m definitely reading it! After reading your review, I’m giddy with the excitement for it to come out!

Is it terrible of me that I want to wait until all three are out now? *ducks* I don’t want to read the first two, fall madly in love and have to wait a year for the next one!
That’s SOOO cool that you’re a character in a series you adore!! I can’t wait to read it (Wait. You don’t die, do you? Though that would be cool, too.).

I liked the first book but I certainly didn’t love it. I’m happy that you really enjoyed this one and that the characters were able to grow for the better. If the characters grow and this story becomes even better then I guess I shall give this a try.
Thanks for the great review!
