Crewel by Gennifer Albin  on goodreads:

Incapable. Awkward. Artless.

That’s what the other girls whisper behind her back. But sixteen year-old Adelice Lewys has a secret: she wants to fail.

Gifted with the ability to weave time with matter, she’s exactly what the Guild is looking for, and in the world of Arras, being chosen as a Spinster is everything a girl could want. It means privilege, eternal beauty, and being something other than a secretary. It also means the power to embroider the very fabric of life. But if controlling what people eat, where they live and how many children they have is the price of having it all, Adelice isn’t interested.

Not that her feelings matter, because she slipped and wove a moment at testing, and they’re coming for her—tonight.

Now she has one hour to eat her mom’s overcooked pot roast. One hour to listen to her sister’s academy gossip and laugh at her Dad’s stupid jokes. One hour to pretend everything’s okay. And one hour to escape.

Because once you become a Spinster, there’s no turning back.

I am absolutely crazy about that cover, first of all. And besides that, the book sounds awesome! How do you make yourself okay with having to become a failure, listening to others ridicule you, knowing that what they say could not be further from the truth. And because some of my most trusted bloggy’s have loved it. That bodes pretty well for me!

I haven’t gotten the chance to pick this one up yet, but it sounds awesome. It sounds very different, and I like the time aspect of it. Have heard nothing but good things about it.

  6. I desperately want to read Crewel for so many reasons:

    1. She did an author event here in KC and I had to miss it…I’m super angry about that!
    2. I love this type of book – the dystopia mixed with a little fantasy sounds FANTASTIC!
    3. I am in LOVE with the cover of this book :o)

  8. Now I’m getting all excited for CREWEL’s sequel! I mean, I thought I knew nearly EVERYTHING about Arras, but the author says that no one really knows its true nature? The wait will surely kill me! CREWEL was one of my favorite reads of the year (and it was, no doubt, extremely unique), so I’m super pumped for the sequel.

    Thanks for sharing, Danny! 🙂

What fascinates me about Crewel is both the stunningly beautiful book cover and what it means to be a spinster and weave time and matter. I am really excited to read this book. The synopsis sounds unique and I love the idea of ready something different than I’ve ever read before. Gennifer Albin must have an extremely creative mind, and I cannot wait to get into it and see the world, characters, and story that she has created! Thanks for the tour and giveaway Gennifer Albin and Bewitched Bookworms. I am really excited for the opportunity to win such a beautiful and amazing book!

I haven’t read the book, but I’ve been really interested in the book for the longest time. The whole concept with the time weaving in the book is what intrigued me to read it in the first place.

Just the title Crewel caught my interest. If that wasn’t enough to hook me, the cover sure did. There’s so much hype for it, I’m for sure going to try it at least once.

I love love love the idea of being a ‘spinster’. Being able to weave a moment of time is such a cool concept. And so is the fact that this is such a huge power that she could basically control everyone through it. I haven’t read this book, but I reallllyyy want to. (: Thanks for the amazing giveaway!

  18. Honestly It was the review you did that got me so interested in reading it. Before then, I didn’t really have an interest. But after the review, I really didn’t think of reading it before you gushed about it and I understood the cover better. So, when you gush, I just know it’s going to be great!
