My Friday Love {61} – Favorite Book Shop’s

Posted 15 June, 2012 by Danny in Blog, Danny, Heather, Pushy / 22 Comments

Happy Friday Welcome to our Friday Feature!

My Friday Love is a weekly meme, where we want to share what we loved during this past week. Each week we will ask a question about what you loved in this week. (This meme can easily combined with any other Friday meme, we don’t mind;)

In spirit of the Friday Love, go and visit the other blogs and leave some love…

When thinking about the topic for the next Friday Love, I usually get inspired by what exciting things happened to me this week, or what exciting things are happening in the book or blog world. Yesterday – Thursday – Pushy and Heather attended the Firece Reads Event at Anderson’s Book Shop in Chicago, where all the awesome authors always visit… This lead me to this weeks Friday Love…

Share your favorite Book Shops!!!!

My Friday Love is…

Anderson’s Book Shop in Naperville!!!

And I’m now handing over to Pushy and Heather to tell about the Fierce Read’s Signing!!!

Hi all!!  *Pushy and Heather wave sleepily*

It’s actually still yesterday as we’re writing this and we’ve just come back from another amazing signing at our favorite bookshop, Anderson’s Book Shop in Naperville, IL.

Why do we love them so much?

Because they bring us events like this:

And look at those lovely ladies!

Anna Banks sly sarcasm keeps us rolling as she and Emmy Laybourne,
Jennifer Bosworth and Leigh Bardugo share all kinds of awesome on the Fierce Reads
tour.

Anderson’s consistenly brings us the authors we love, let’s us meet them and hang out with other readers and bloggers who get all fan-girly with us.  It’s just the only place in the area where we can do stuff like this:

Love you guys like crazy for this!!!!!!

Nights like this when we get to meet author’s like Anna.
Meeting Kami Garcia (Heather’s edit: and even driving Kami from one Anderson’s store to the other!) and Margaret Stohl, Marissa Meyer, Carrie Ryan, Beth Revis and all the other amazing author’s Anderson’s has been able to bring to the Chicagoland area is such an amazing treat.  And that’s why we love Anderson’s so much!!

So, what about you guys?

Tell us about your favorite Book Shop, why you love it – or tell us about the most amazing signing you went to in a store nearby!

Let us know!

Much Friday Love,

  1. Awwww, that sign was SO SWEET! You have some really awesome friends, Danny :’) And Pushy and Heather, you’re really lucky that you got to go to the Fierce Reads tour! Both Shadow and Bone and Of Poseidon were extremely fun to read, and I really want to pick up Struck and Monument 14 too. Now I want to move to Anderson because you’ve met so many awesome authors! (Like MARISSA MEYER <3)

Have an amazing Friday, you guys! <3

Anderson’t has so many author signings it’s unbelievable. We’ve went to so many over the last couple of years and they’ve been amazing! I totally want to read all of these books after meeting these authors. It’s always nice to meet such funny, smart authors that don’t turn you off of reading their books.

    Thanks for stopping by, Mimi!

  3. Now I want to move to Chicago !
Over here where I live there aren’t many great bookshops. We have maybe 3 good ones that usually have the books I need. 🙁
It’s sad since these bookshops sell books at killer prices. Some paperbacks even exceed $30 !
That’s why I rely so much on ebooks ! 😀
Anderson’s seems like a wonderful bookshop. 🙂 Seems like you get to meet tons of great authors ! I’ve never met an author in my life and I’m hoping to change that soon. 🙂
    Great post ! 😀

  4. My favorite book store is Powell’s book here in Portland. You could live in it for weeks and not even begin to make a dent in the exorbitant amount of books in this place. Just thinking about it makes me want to go there. If you ever come to Portland this is a must!

  5. Like Heidi my favorite is Powells. I’m lucky enough to live close enough to one (if not THE) best bookstore in the US. I attend loads of signings at the Cedar Hills store and love it because it’s got new AND used books but the one downtown is ENORMOUS and so fun to stroll through!
Andersons looks and sounds awesome too! And YAY for the Fierce Reads signing! I wanted to go to the one in Seattle but it’s a few hours away and it just didn’t work out. 🙁

  6. I actually drive up to Houston 40 miles away to Blue Willow Bookshop. It is my fave book store ever! They have all the latest YA, they are so nice and friendly, and their store looks identical to the one in You’ve Got Mail. It’s so adorable! And they always have the best author signings!

I wanted to attend the Fierce Reads SIgning there this week. Same authors as yours, but due to bad weather I didn’t go. My fave signing there has been Lauren Conrad back in April. I had a total fan girl moment! And I am so pumped to go to their Jodi Picoult signing this month, for her new YA book. And I’m hoping to make it out there for Jennifer Weiner too! Her books are fab!

  7. Yep, let’s hear it for Malaprops in Asheville. It’s about two hours away. There are probably some in Winston Salem, but I don’t know the area, so I go to signings there. I just recently saw Beth Revis, Kiersten White, Stephanie Perkins and Megan Miranda. I still haven’t posted pictures. They did a great Q and A and then signed books. Had to bring the kiddos and this store is so cool, the let my 12 yr old plug in his computer and do his homework right behind me while the Q and A was going on. Asheville is so cool anyway and then Malaprops, though not very big, is a totally unique bookstore.

But the best book signing I went to was at a library in Morganton (tiny little town in NC mountains) on the Ash to Nash tour. Beth Revis, Myra McEntire, Vera Schwab and Michelle Hodkin. So Awesome! It was before Mara Dyer had been released.

  8. Add the” pecan butter,” coconut, salt, vegetables filled
with starch, processed sugar, salt and saturated fats for the majority of its
benefits. Avoid oils that are rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which are
quite a few recent phones. Most raw foodists as they are helpful at times.

  9. I couldn’t help but notice, as I swiftly learnt, I don’t waste my time on meaningless communication skills relationships.
Remember, what we call” fate” is really nothing more than to be along and safely not fully committed.
Ha ‘That chronology obscures the fact that age-gap communication skills relationships are unlikely to embrace radical ideas and are very traditional in their views. Thus, our communication skills relationships offer us the clearest view of our own souls because they invite us to look directly into the face of Richard’s sadness.

  10. I do believe all the concepts you’ve offered to your post.
They’re really convincing and will certainly
work. Still, the posts are very brief for novices.
May you please extend them a little from subsequent time?
    Thank you for the post.

  11. The Veranda Resort and Residence is a residential resort community on the Grace Bay Beach with luxury
    facilities for families, honeymooners, couples,
singles and spa vacationers. You will find the Turks and
Caicos weather to be simply delightful, most of the time.
Before, children used to be able to travel on their parents passports, but now
due to stricter laws, they must also have
    their own.
