I’m very excited to be part of the Perception Blog Tour!
Perception is the sequel to Clarity – which I absolutely loved!

Even more excited am I because I had the pleasure to interview Kim Harrington, so without further ado:
First thing that caught my eye when I read Clarity was the beautiful name you choose for your heroine: Clarity. I’m still debating to name my child (if I ever have one) either Clarity of Karou… . Anyway, how did you come up with the name and does it mean something special to you?
Clarity “Clare” Fern was originally Andromeda “Andie” Fern. But the book needed a different title. The publisher wanted one word, something evocative of the main character’s gift. So my friend and I were looking through a thesaurus at vision related words. “Clarity” jumped out at me. I thought…I could change her name. She could be Clarity “Clare” Fern and the title can be Clarity—alluding both to her name and her gift. And Clarity was born!
Why did you decide to introduce a Love Triangle for Clarity? Do you also enjoy reading Triangles or was the something important for the development of Clarity herself or the story?
I know some people despise them, but I’m a sucker for a good love triangle. I love them. It also made sense for Clare’s character. She’s not a romantic by nature and has serious trust issues, so there will be no instalove for her. The guy’s got to chip down that wall she’s built and earn her affections over time. Also, I loved the idea of including a past love interest and a new interest. The idea of weighing history against possibilities. And I wanted the love interests to be seriously flawed. Guys aren’t perfect. (Except my husband, in case you’re reading this. Love YOU!)
Oh and I was always dying to tell you how much I loved Perry – Clarity’s older brother. Will be see more from him in Perception and … are there any tiny maybe plans that he might get his own story?
Yes, Perry has a big part in Perception. Secret: my favorite scenes to write are Clare and Perry scenes. I adore them together. As far as Perry’s own story, I would love that.
Coming back to you, what was the best thing that happened to you since you published Clarity? Any fun stories to share?
I love hearing from readers. That is truly the best part. I got a letter in the mail the other day from a thirteen-year-old girl who said reading was never fun for her. She hated it. But she found my book in the library and loved it so much. And now she’s reading more and more. I actually cried when I read that.
I read that “Clarity” might become a TV series!!! I cross my fingers that this would really work out. But, between you and me (and all our readers…) what would have been your first choice: TV series or Movie?
I would say TV. I think movies are great if you’re going to be very loyal to the book. Television is the best medium for taking a book and expanding on it. Television writers can do so much more with the characters and their development over the length of a series than they can in a two-hour movie. And, being a mystery series, I think Clarity is much better suited for television. Clare could solve a different mystery each week! I would love for that to happen.
Thanks for having me!

When you can see things others can’t, what do you do when someone’s watching you?
Everybody knows about Clarity “Clare” Fern. She’s the psychic girl in school, the one who can place her hands on something and see hidden visions from the past.
Only Clare would rather not be a celebrity. She prefers hanging back, observing. Her gift is not a game to her.
But then someone starts playing with her head . . . and heart. Messages and gifts from a secret admirer crop up everywhere Clare turns. Could they be from Gabriel, the gorgeous boy who gets Clare’s pulse racing? Or from Justin, Clare’s hopeful ex-boyfriend who’d do anything to win her back?
One thing is certain. Clare needs to solve this mystery, and soon. Because the messages are becoming sinister, and a girl in town has suddenly disappeared.

You can't believe how excited I am about Perception!
I love Clare, and Perry (so cool that they're Kim's favorite scenes to write) and it would awesome if Perry got his own book. I hope he cheers up in Perception, I felt awful for him, and he's a great guy!
I too love a good love-triangle, without insta-love. Clare's was done perfectly (although I'm a huge Justin fan:)

I just read a great, glowing review on this book yesterday by Mimi Valentine, she recommended that if I had a few dollars in my wallet I should buy it. I would love to dig into this series. I appreciated her answer on love triangles, I am not a fan but if it is written well than I can live with it.

I feel like we have to deal with Triangles all the time so they somehow grew on me, although if you might ask me – I would rather not have one..
Clarity was awesome and a very fast read so if you can start with the series :))

Triangles….it really depends on the day. Some days I'm all for it. But others, I really try to stray away. They can get really frustrating..but I guess that's the whole point!

I've been meaning to read this series it sounds so good and I agree Clarity is beautiful for a name! I wonder why so many despise love triangles!? I mean, how boring would it be without ever a triangle!? Plus this is YA it's like expected. I like them if they're not cliché or too perfect (bad guy vs great guy – both perfect and both in love with her bleh). But like the triangle in Unearthly is awesome! Great post Danny!

Clarity really is such a beautiful name! Andromeda reminds me of Harry Potter, ha. I really like Perry so I'm excited to hear that he's featured more in Perception.

I absolutely love Perry. I don't have a brother but I have a cousin who is the same age and we are best friends. We have gotten into so much together and our parents are always like what did you two due. Perry and Clarity have that relationship and that is great because there is no one like family.
