Review: Shiver and Linger by Maggie Stiefvater

Hey – it’s Greta and Kristen!

Do you want to hear a secret? Come closer…. a little closer…. Just a smidge more.
Ok… is there anyone around?

Well, look dummy! I can’t see if there’s anyone near πŸ˜‰

Ok… are you ready for this?

No, seriously, are you? Cuz we’re only saying this once.

WE FREAKING ADORE THESE BOOKS!!!!!!

Oh snaps! Did we hurt your ear? We iz sorry πŸ˜‰

Greta: I can’t tell you enough how much I luber dubbed Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater. It’s an awesometastical story that makes me go squee!!

So, its pretty much a girl meets boy, boy wants girl, girl wants boy more, bow wow wow yippy yo yippy yay kinda story… but done RIGHT!! There’s no lip gloss (and if there is I guess my brain refused to process the word because the story overrode that with its awesomeness) and the way the story is told is just pure brilliance.

I read this book over a year ago and I remember squeeing to my best friend about it. She kept laughing at me. She said, “Greta, you’re funny. Last year you wanted to get bit by a vampire and now you want to get bit by a wolf.”

Well, it’s been over a year later and I STILL want to get bit by a wolf.

And I’ll say it folks… I totally dug this book way more than Twilight.

I don’t know if it was the poetry, or maybe the fact that Sam could play the guitar and formed song lyrics in his head, or maybe that it was more on my level, But this story spoke to me. It was all I could think about until Linger came out. And oh snapples!! When that book came out then I squeed even more πŸ˜‰ But we’ll let Kristen squee about that part.

Shiver is a clever book, it’s original, and it’s a super duper squee! If you are looking for something a bit more modern that breaks away from the Jane Austin fantasy girls then I sooo recommend this book to ya. You’ll be so happy I did that maybe you’ll buy me a Thank You gift. (note: my favorite color is blue, if that helps you.)

Kristen: Yay for me – I get to talk about Linger now! I was so excited to get this book and then to read it…..ooooommmmmmgggggg can anyone say Cole? (and I heart Isabel) I think the best part of this book was not only the continuation and twistiness of the Sam/Grace love story but it added a few more characters into the mix.
Without spoiling you – it’s a bit hard to chit chat about this book. Just know I loved all the little touches, the green font, the gorgeous cover. The mystery of all the wolfie stuff and also the growth and progression of Grace growing up and figuring out where she fits in.
And because Cole was one of my favorite new characters, I feel like I have to share something that the awesomeness that is Greta wrote for my birthday last year:

So – get going and catch up on these books! Forever, the final book in the series comes out on July 12th! And we’ll be reviewing it together next week! Squeeeeee!

LMAO!! Are you mad about that one too?

LOLZ! I must be the only one who doesn't care. ;P

Okey doke… I shall tell you the exact same thing I told Cutie (cuz I wrote the rest of it and am awesome that way)

    Ok… this is what happens.

The big mighty antler king prances around all sexy and does some really cool stuff. The fairies go around and get out of the never never but they get sucked back in cuz that bagpipe dude is cool and magical.

A love affair happens with him and his fairy chick (I'm awesome with names) and we pretty much forget about the girl from the first book cuz she bugged me.

A huntress comes along and traps the antler king but in the end they fall in love and bambi is born.

    The end πŸ˜‰

But awesome! We can go all MISERY! Ok.. you live in a colder climate so we;ll meet there. Now, we just need a pig, a slick road, and a bed with rope πŸ˜‰ MUHAHAHAHS!

YOu know, I read this book once where this chick really wanted to enjoy this book this dude wrote so she would only let herself read like 3 pages a day. I don't think I could do it!! Could you?
