The black sheep of Fallbrook is back . . . and he's in for the surprise of his life.
Former bad boy, now-decorated Army Ranger Brody McBride is home and on a mission: Find the woman he never should have left behind and right the wrong he did eight years ago.
When the man she loved broke her heart and skipped town, Rain Evans picked up the pieces. But along with heartbreak, Brody left her something infinitely better than she could have imagined: two beautiful daughters. One she gave birth to, and the other she rescued from the woman who helped destroy her relationship with Brody.
Brody is shocked to discover he's a father, and he's more determined than ever to win back Rain and protect his girls. Can they rekindle the love they once shared and become the family they were always meant to be? Or will a danger from their past return and ruin everything?
I just recently fell in love with Jennifer Ryan and her Montana Men Series and so went back and hunted down some of her other works. I stumbled upon The McBride Series and got the first one right away!
Bad Boy comes home with PTSDÂ after spending some time in the military
The setting was quite of intriguing. Brody left his girlfriend and family and wasn’t seen for 7 years. During this time he did some soul-searching, left his bad boy persona behind him and came back with some horrible war memories. Now, he wants to win his old girlfriend Rain back! (I immediately thought “Who would wait for 7 years!?!?!, but… never doubt soul crushing romance..) Â
Well, a big surprise was waiting for him because…. bad boy Brody left his home and now he has two 7 year old daughters… and he not just has to win Rains heart, but also that of his daughters.
Just too easy… not enough drama!
The story is lovely and is also quiet heartwarming, but… and that is my biggest  & only complain… there is not enough drama. Rain makes it too easy for Brody and his daughters just embrace their daddy with open arms and hearts. Yes, there are some struggles but they were minor and not adding enough tension to the story. Everything was just too smooth. So if you like the perfect wonderful romance then this book is defiantly for you, if you however wish that there is more drama, tension and conflict then you will be disappointed.
Bewitched Rating
Bottom Line
The Return of Brody McBride by Jennifer Ryan is a heartwarming and beautiful romance that could have added much more drama and tension for my liking. Let them all struggle a little more before they all can live their happily ever after… 🙂
But.. I will definitely read the next one: Falling For Owen, which sounds like there is a little more drama going on!
Oh and the Kindle version is on sale right now for only 1.99!
How do you feel about too perfect romances? Do you also want your heroes to suffer a little before they can be happy? Â

I think I’d enjoy this book although from what you’ve written I think I’ll agree on the “too easy” front. Maybe I’ll pick this one up when I’m in the mood for a quick romance 🙂 Great review!
