I’ve been waiting for BEA 2014 to begin since last year, or rather more closely since the beginning of the year and couldn’t wait for it to be here. It’s been my 4th year and even though I pretty much knew what to expect I am still completely amazed by the event.
Danny’s BEA Highlights of 2014
Meeting up with Good Friends who I haven’t seen in a year and make new ones
I spend all my time with Jenny and her wonderful “moms” Pam & Cathy and with Mary. We’ve made such a great team it was simply wonderful! Mary and I were both pretty chilled and therefore missed most of the galley drops. But.. we so didn’t care and had lots of fun!
We also occasionally meet Alison, but she’s as organised as Jenny and her moms, so we didn’t see her much on the floor. But we’ve had a nice dinner and drinks on Saturday! And then, yes I felt I also made some new friends among them Lauren from Love is Not a Triangle and Liza Wiemer from WhoRuBlog
Here are some pictures with some lovely bloggers:
Also, I meet Liza Wiemer who is simply the best. Funny enough we realized that we’ve had meet before but can’t remember where. Sadly we do not have a picture together, but meeting her was truly a highlight!
Meeting or at least seeing a few of my favorite Authors
For me, this is the most important point in coming to BEA. As there are not so many events (as in none I ever attended) on Germany, so BEA is my one and only chance to meet authors I am deeply in love with. And it has been great this year! I focused my signings on these authors and so I was lucky to become all fangirly over them!
Jeaniene Frost was my first signing on Thursday and thanks to the wonderful Margo who introduced me it was an unforgettable moment! Kresley Cole even remembered me – I was so damn speechless! We haven’t met, but I’m a big fan of her series Poison Princess and posted some fangirly reviews. But that she remembered me and that I was from Germany made me speechless!
Becca Fitzpatrick asked me about my favorite character in hush, hush and all I could do was look at her and arch an eyebrow “Why, Patch of course! How can you ask” it was a fun moment!
I was thankful that I finally meet Josephine Angelini and could chat with her a little bit at the YA Party, where I also got the chance to chat with Marie Rutkowski and Miranda Kenneally and Tiffany Schmidt!
I have to mention the author that turned into my absolute BEA highlight! Heather Demetrios! I deeply loved Something Real and I read on the flight over to the US Exquisite Captive which is AMAZING!
Mark this book on your list, right freaking now!
Anyway, I chatted with her and her super lovely husband at the Epic Reads Party, saw her at her signing and chatted with her at the YA Party from Liza Wiemer. I herby want most fangirly fangirl status!
Getting Some Books to Squeal over!
Oh we nearly forgot – there are books at BEA:-) And yes I got some absolutely awesome galleys I cannot wait to read! And apart from one book I pretty much got all I wanted to get and more. The book I’m super sad I couldn’t get was Heirs of Fire by Sarah J Maas, but the line was crazy and her fans are so dedicated that they started the line at 9am and waited 2 hrs for her signing.
Also I should mention a few books that I hadn’t really on my radar, but then got overly excited when I attend the Little Brown brunch. The wonderful wonderful ladies there talked about upcoming books and made it impossibly not to start squealing with them!
Among them: Famous in Love (SUPER EXCITED girls), Wild Life and The Young World!
In my eyes, this has been the perfect event and I got some books I had no direct intention to read, but after this brunch I couldn’t be any more excited!
Chatting and meeting with my favorite publicists and hopefully getting some new contacts.
I’m forever thankful and grateful that I got invited to a few events and parties where I had the chance to chat with publicists. I got to meet and hug Ksenia who is just so so wonderful!! I also meet Faye who I only had email contact before and who amazingly introduced me to Rebecca Serle (author of Famous in Love, a book I am so freaking excited to read).
Then I hugged Liza Wray, with whom I’ve been working on the Kismet Tours since 4 years and who sadly is leaving HarlequinTEEN (Oh Lisa, solo going to miss you!).
I also chatted with Mitch from Hachette audio, who is just so freaking nice and amazing to chat with. (no picture sadly!)
I meet some wonderful new publicists from Bloomsburry and Simon and Schuster and had a chance to introduce myself. This is particularly exciting as I never had a contact there and hope to work with them in the future. Edit: Lizzy from Bloomsbury just send me the eGalley for Heir of Fire – YEAH!!!
As a Bottom Line I would say that it’s been an amazing and awesome BEA for me this year! It has been both more stressful and more chilled at the same time. Stressful because I felt like I was running constantly between A,B and C and chilled because I was limiting myself to books I truly wanted to have and leave those books that I was not sure about. I felt like that in the previous years I haven’t been as selected and was constantly on edge not to miss a drop or a signing. This year was wonderful!
So guys, what was your Highlight at BEA, which author made you giddy with excitement, which book made you squeal and which blogger you can now call a new friend?
P.S. : I will talk about Blogger Con, the amazing Maurren Johnson and BEA itself in a separate post coming very soon!!

It was so nice to meet you and hang out with you for a bit this year, Danny. I’m so glad that I made the connection when I was standing in line with you and Lauren. I love our picture with the Black Ice boys. Definitely one of my highlights from BEA 2014! 🙂

Haha…it is too bad we didn’t meet up too often on the floor, but I can’t miss any book opportunities! Have you finished anything yet? I finished Not in the Script by Amy Finnegan – a surprise Bloomsbury drop that I happened to walk by on Saturday. It was very cute.
I will have to email you the photo I got of all of us together – the one on Facebook. I had to crop the photo because the way I was standing made me look 6 months pregnant. Ugh.
Miss you!

Sounds like you had a successful BEA! This was my third year attending, and while I love all the books, I really go for the community. I briefly accosted you near the autograph lines to thank you because you gave me some great advice my very first BEA- my friend and I were behind you in line on the first day of our first BEA day ever. We were so nervous because it was back when bloggers were still considered as outsiders to the event and we wanted to be on our best behavior even though we had no clue what to expect. You were very generous with you time and advice, so thank you again!
I really thought this year went well, but I’m sad that there’s not more author events in Germany. There’s hardly any in my city, but I’m close enough to all the ones in Washington DC and in North Carolina to make it to ones there.
And I will definitely check out Heather Demetrios!

Oh Kate!!! For some reason I never connected you with your blog, I just remembered we chatted and then this year we hugged (yeah I am so a hugger)! Of course I know your blog too!
A few years I ago I had the same feeling about being a blogger and I was not sure how to approach publicists etc. I truly feel like this has changed and ever so often I encounter bright smiles when they realise we are bloggers.
yes please check out Heather Demetrios!! 🙂
Hope to see you again next year Kate!!

YAY!!! I had such a good time with you and everyone and meeting people and wandering the floor…but I’m still recovering. I’m exhausted! (In a good way) You’re so much better about taking pictures than I am. I’m doing a little recap post tomorrow and my picture selection is sad. Oh, well!!

I MISS YOU SO MUCH DANNY!!! BEA is both awesome and bittersweet for me – I love getting to see you but it always goes so fast and then you’re gone again! I think each year we go gets better though, we always get to meet new people and make new contacts and it’s awesome. Counting down the days to next year already!
Love you:)

And how can it be!
My book soulmate, my partner-in-crime, my friend ( well, wasn’t THAT cheesy?)
LOVE YOU AND MISS YOU!

Yeah I was HORRIBLE at taking photos this year. Last year I took a lot of selfies. This year I took a lot of photos of authors and the exhibit hall, but none with fellow bloggers!!! What’s wrong with me?!?!

Oh no!!! Lisa is leaving Harlequin Teen??? This is like, catastrophic. I hope that whoever replaces her is as awesome as her, but it will definitely not be the same!
So glad you got to go and have such a great time. I can only imagine travelling that far for a book event. I would be so overly excited!

Hanging out with you is definitely one of my BEA highlights! I love that you focused your post on the people you got to meet and hang out with. I had a blast with you, Mary and Jenny. I’m jealous that you got to hang out with Marie Rutkoski. I missed seeing her! She is gorgeous and lovely. And for some reason I didn’t get to chat with Heather Demetrios at the Epic Reads party. Big fail! I agree that SOMETHING REAL is such an amazing book. I can’t wait for all her upcoming releases.
