Avoiding Commitment
Avoiding Commitment by K.A. Linde on goodreads:Â
Jack and Lexi never had a typical relationship. After 2 years without speaking, she receives a phone call that changes everything. He unexpectedly asks her to convince the new girl, Bekah, that he’s ready to commit. Jack is calling now after everything they had been through because there is another woman. She can’t believe it. Follow Lexi in this heart wrenching drama as she relives her past relationship, or lack thereof, with Jack, and not just in her own mind, but to his fiance-to-be. Throw in Bekah’s hot brother who always seems to be in the right place at the right time, a past with more secrets to unravel than you can even imagine, and you get a recipe for disaster. Find out what happens to Lexi as she travels to Atlanta to get the closure she so desperately desires from Jack, and how the bumps of life seem to keep getting in the way.
Just finished of this incredible book and I feel emotionally trained. The New Adult genre gives me something I always hope for when reading a novel. A story that does not hold back, that goes just s step futher and makes me feel… everything!
Destructive – but now way to turn around
Lexi and Jake have a very unhealthy relationship, if you would even call it that way. But, despite knowing this they can’t walk away from each other, they just can’t. This novel tells the story about two people that feel drawn to each other over the course of 6 years. Yet, they never managed to stay together, there is always coming something between them. They cannot and do not trust each other, yet none of them is able to walk away..
Lexi – smoking hot – but naïve when it comes to Jake
I loved Lexi –I did! Even though I wanted to smack some sense into her whenever she – again – gave into Jake. But, she was in love – deeply in love with a boy that never committed to her, that used her, promised her the world but never fully got to be with her. I felt very deeply for Lexi, sometimes there is just this one boy that you would do anything for and he just would need to look at you. You would forgive him anything, even though you know this boy will be your downfall. During this 6 years Lexi always tried to strong around him yet never managed…
Jake – sexy, but afraid to commit!
I loved and hated Jake, it went up and down with him and me. He was a jerk, always knowing that Lexi would be a puddle in his arms and yet he never turned his back to her, only when it got serious! Yes, there are these kind of men, there is nothing but truth here, even though it hurts to see how he treated the woman around him. Yet, there was something about him that I liked. He was in a way emotionally very insecure and afraid, and not even Lexi could find a way inside his wall.
Passion, Hot and Cold – Tears and Love
This book had everything! It was emotionally very raw and intense, something I always look for in a story like this. K.A.Linde didn’t hold back, telling everything in glory detail even if it would let her protagonists look horrible in a way. But, I loved this! It felt extremely real and not beautified – it told a story about a destructive relationship neither of them could manage to get rid of! I was enthralled and compelled and couldn’t for one minute put it down!
The only part that confused me was that sometimes the 3rd POV shifted between characters too suddenly and moved back to another character… But, this is just a minor point in an overall thrilling book!
Bewitched Rating
Bottom Line
If you are looking for a passionate, intense and emotionally raw story and love the New Adult Genre, then you must pick up this book! You must follow Lexi on her path of struggle, passion and see her fall and finally to get back up again! I can’t freaking wait for the next book! This story broke my heart so heavily; I need the next book right now!

I haven’t yet read a NA book, but I hope to do so soon! I’ve heard WAY TOO MUCH about them to not be excited.
And I’m super excited for the 2012 Fall Clearing, but I don’t see a Rafflecopter for Unraveling . . . *sadface*
And anyways, thank you for just about everything. (The amazing reviews, posts, etc.) I always look forward to reading things on Bewitched Bookworms!

Ooooo this one is set in Atlanta! I should read it for that alone. 🙂 (Erm…that’s where I live, btw. lol) I saw this on GR but was sorta put off by the cover, which is terrible. I’m curious about a content rating: is the book super steamy or no?

Hmmmm Danny. I’m not sure about this one! I know I want to read it because you loved it, but right now I would say Jake has some serious groveling to do to get into my good graces after the way he treats Lexi. If you say there’s something appealing to him despite some of his behavior though, I’ll believe you:):):)

Seriously, you will probably hate Jake – but somehow the whole story grabbed me! Lexi was just so in love and blind – but it was such a passionate story I couldn’t help but fall in love with!!!

And yep, Jake and Lexi’s relationship is destructive and messed up. But there is beauty between those lines and I LOVEd how Lexi grew and finally realized that this is not good for her! Can’t wait for the next book!

Angsty goodness! While it’s not my cup of tea for the most part, I totally get the appeal. Although, it sounds like I would want to smack Jake upside the head…and Lexi, too! Think I’ll pass this recommendation along to someone I know will *love* it.

I’m not fond of the cover but it sounds good from your review. Don’t we all know a girl who stays with a guy who just isn’t good to her? Of course, that goes the opposite way too.
