Synopsis from goodreads

Vee Bell is certain of one irrefutable truth—her sister’s friend Sophie didn’t kill herself. She was murdered.Vee knows this because she was there. Everyone believes Vee is narcoleptic, but she doesn’t actually fall asleep during these episodes: When she passes out, she slides into somebody else’s mind and experiences the world through that person’s eyes. She’s slid into her sister as she cheated on a math test, into a teacher sneaking a drink before class. She learned the worst about a supposed “friend” when she slid into her during a school dance. But nothing could have prepared Vee for what happens one October night when she slides into the mind of someone holding a bloody knife, standing over Sophie’s slashed body.Vee desperately wishes she could share her secret, but who would believe her? It sounds so crazy that she can’t bring herself to tell her best friend, Rollins, let alone the police. Even if she could confide in Rollins, he has been acting off lately, more distant, especially now that she’s been spending more time with Zane.

Enmeshed in a terrifying web of secrets, lies, and danger and with no one to turn to, Vee must find a way to unmask the killer before he or she strikes again.

As soon as I got my  hands on Slide , thanks to Jill and the awesome peeps from Harper, I had to start reading – the premise sounded awesome, part “The Body Finder” part “Wake” series which I loved both!

Mix Mystery, Suspense with Romance and a hind of paranormal – shake it and you get “Slide”

I loved the mix of different genres here which all seem to wave effortless together. Vee our main character can Slide into other people and then she sees and feels what they are seeing at this very moment. Then, one day she sees through the eyes of a murderer – a murderer that kills her friends! But, whom can she trust with something like this?

Vee  – a wonderful character but Rollins and Zane rocked

I did love Vee instantly. She seemed a little troubled and definitely had some issues. But, who wouldn’t with an absent mother and her Slide condition about which she has no on to talk to! Then, there are the secondary character like her best friend Rollins who was just plain awesome! Fast, one gets the impression that there might be more than just BFF’s here. Also, Rollins definitely is hiding something and it made me turn the pages faster and faster, desperately wanting to find out what’s going on with Rollins. Then, there is Zane the new boy and Vee instantly falls for him, much to Rollins displeasure of course. Both boys were awesome and easy to let into your heart!

A mystery that won’t let you put Slide down and keeps you guessing, and scared!

I loved the mystery behind the murder, we only see glimpses when Vee suddenly slides into the murder. One part of Vee’s sliding should be mentioned now: she only slides when she touches something the other person had touched! So, Vee apparently knows the murder which just added to the incredible suspense factor! I was scared along with Vee to figure out the reasons and the truth behind the killings!

Bottom Line

Slide was a thrilling and gripping ride. The mystery was suspenseful and the paranormal aspect great! With the addition of a sweet romance it was perfectly up my alley! Normally, I don’t like comparing – but Slide had everything I liked about The Wake series by Lisa McMann and The Body Finder series by Kimberly Derting. If you loved those books than you should pick up Slide!

  5. Sometimes mixing genres doesn't work so well, so I'm glad to hear that it did work here. Vee's condition sounds interesting and nothing like I've read before.

Thanks so much for the review and giveaway, Danny.

No way!! They say if you listen in on conversations you'll never hear anything good about yourself, so imagine what you would learn if you just slid on in!! No thanks! But I do want to read this book! Thanks so much for the chance to win a copy:)

I think I'll pass on being able to slide into someone. I've got enough burdens as it is, I wouldn't want to take on anyone else's just because I felt like being a little nosy!

It felt so much like a burden also to Vee in the book since she was the only one that knew the girl didn't kill herself!:(

Nooooo!!!!! There are many things I'd like to be able to do, but I can't even stand to hear people talking about stuff they most definitely should not be talking about in public, I have no desire to see or hear what they do in private!

Personally, it would depend on if I could choose to slide into a person. For instance, I would never want to slide into an old guy's body. That would be creepy and awkward. More likely, a person that is female and around my age. But that would be only if I would be able to choose.
