Weekly meme from The Story Siren. The idea is to post the books you got this week, whether you bought them, got them as a gift, from the library, or received them to review.

Hi, everyone! I have several books for you guys this week (All links for books and authors are to Goodreads, descriptions are from Amazon, click the book covers to go to the Amazon.com page for the book)

I preordered the seventh installment in the Chicagoland Vampires Series by Chloe Neill. This one’s called House Rules.houserules

In a city full of vampires, trouble never sleeps.

At the tender age of 27, Merit became a sword-wielding vampire. Since then, she’s become the protector of her House, watched Chicago nearly burn to the ground, and seen her Master fall and rise. Now she’ll see her mettle—and her metal —tested like never before.

It started with two . . . Two rogues vanishing without a trace. Someone is targeting Chicago’s vampires, and anyone could be next. With their house in peril, Merit and her Master, the centuries old Ethan Sullivan, must race to stop the disappearances. But as they untangle a web of secret alliances and ancient evils, they realize their foe is more familiar, and more powerful, than they could have ever imagined.

I’m still a bit behind on this series. I think I’m still back on book five or something, but I’m still buying these books as they come out. One day I will dive right back in and see what Merit’s been up to, especially since I know that Ethan’s back.

I bought a Kindle copy of the first installment of the Artists Trilogy by Karina HalleSins & Needles.sins

Ellie Watt is used to starting over. The daughter of a grifting team, Ellie spent her childhood being used as a pawn in her parents’ latest scam. Now she’s much older, wiser and ready to give her con artist life a rest. But returning to the dry desert town of Palm Valley, California means one more temptation than she bargained for – Camden McQueen. Once known as the high school weirdo, Camden is bigger and badder than the boy he used to be and a talented tattoo artist with his own thriving business. Ellie’s counting on Camden still being in love with her but what she’s not counting on is how easily unrequited love can turn into obsession over time. When Camden discovers Ellie’s plan to con him, he makes her a deal she doesn’t dare refuse, but her freedom comes with a price and it’s one that takes both Ellie and Camden down a dangerous road.

***The Artists Trilogy is a dark and sexy contemporary ride about three flawed individuals caught in a world where it’s so easy to justify the bad things we do. This is a pure adult read (Not YA or NA).

This is the 1st book in the trilogy. It is followed by the novella On Every Street (released in March 2013) and the sequel Shooting Scars (released in May 2013). The third and final book in the series will also be released in 2013.***

I mowed through this author’s Experiment in Terror series in a little over a week and a half, so I decided to pick up this new release and try it out. I read and loved it, so look for my review soon along with my review of the books in the EiT series. I posted the review for the first book, Darkhouse, last Thursday!

What’s in your mailbox this week? I saw the Beautiful Creatures movie last night. It was good, but the books were so much better. Has anyone else seen the movie too? What did you think? Same goes for Warm Bodies. I loved this book, but I really loved the movie and the changes that they made just worked for me. Let me know what you think if you saw either of these movies.

  1. I have been dying to get the Chicagoland Vampires Series for a long time now! And this seventh installment sounds as good as the others. I’ll see if there is a pack or something in Book Depository to get all of them at once.

    Have a nice Sunday!

    • Since there’s seven books in that series now, you won’t get bogged down at book three and thrown them across the room like I did 🙁 You can push through them!!!

  2. I saw Warm Bodies and thought it was a great adaptation of the book! I really liked the changes they made, and the music was great, so it was fun experience overall. I’m excited to see Beautiful Creatures! I’ve heard they made some major changes, so it diverges from the book at some vital points. I read the book ages ago though, so we’ll see what I think when I finally get to go see it!

    • Warm bodies was a perfect adaptation. The things they added to the movie and took away enhanced the movie, IMO. But Beautiful Creatures…the ending was completely different. The movie version Lena was way more selfless than book Lena. Tons of changes, tons of stuff left out. I liked the movie enough, but I love the books so much that I did feel a little let down. The way the ended the movie I’m not too sure how they would start a second movie when you consider the plot of the second book.

My recomendation: see the movie, it is really great, just have an open mind and try to not think too much about what’s missing from the books.

      • You’re not the first person to tell me that! I’m slightly disappointed to hear that the changes were so extensive that even the ending shifts the course of future movies so that it might not even follow the books anymore. Still, I’ll take your advice and go see it without nitpicking. It does look like a good movie!

  3. Ooh Sins and Needles. This is on my must buy next list. 🙂 I’ve been hearing a lot about it for sure. And since I have 6 tattoos of my own, it might be a good choice for me. 🙂
