The Collector by Victoria Scott  on goodreads:
He makes good girls…bad.

Dante Walker is flippin’ awesome, and he knows it. His good looks, killer charm, and stellar confidence have made him one of hell’s best—a soul collector. His job is simple: weed through humanity and label those round rears with a big red good or bad stamp. Old Saint Nick gets the good guys, and he gets the fun ones. Bag-and-tag.

Sealing souls is nothing personal. Dante’s an equal-opportunity collector and doesn’t want it any other way. But he’ll have to adjust, because Boss Man has given him a new assignment:

Collect Charlie Cooper’s soul within ten days.

Dante doesn’t know why Boss Man wants Charlie, nor does he care. This assignment means only one thing to him, and that’s a permanent ticket out of hell. But after Dante meets the quirky Nerd Alert chick he’s come to collect, he realizes this assignment will test his abilities as a collector…and uncover emotions deeply buried.

I guess you also know the feeling. You anticipate a book and you are scared to pick it up, scared it won’t live up to your hopes. The Collector generated sooo much buzz before that I was truly scared I wouldn’t love it as much as I had hoped… Well, all my fear was totally unnecessary!!

Dante is… bad… so bad!

Oh yes, Dante Walker is not the good boy in disguise. When we meet him in the beginning, he’s a real and true bad boy. Well, he collect souls and .. he likes it! A lot! His ego is bigger than the Mount Everest and all he liked damming souls to hell. And I think, Dante is the masterpiece of Victoria Scott! She managed to create a character, who in the beginning is truly not … nice. Still, there is so much more about Dante than it meets the eye in the beginning and this is on us to figure out! It was a character development unlike anything before and it was a both thrilling, touching and exhilarating ride!

Charlie …. the sweet, cute and good girl

When Dante is Victoria’s male masterpiece of badness, then Charlie is her masterpiece in goodness! Gosh, when I first meet Charlie I couldn’t believe that this would be the  girl who will bring change for Dante. But, I was wrong – too fast with my judgment because Charlie is the most counterpart for Dante! She’s sweet and has such a wonderful and good heart – it’s touching. And the most amazing aspect about her is that she is content with how and what she is. She is not affected by surpefical appearances and always looks into the heart of things and also into the heart of people, even if they try very hard to hide what is inside. I loved loved Charlie and more girls should be like her!

Tears, Laughter and full of Emotions

Apart from these incredible wonderful characters, the story itself is rich and perfectly rounded. I loved every page and I feel in love with the story and the characters so easily. Even more, the story is touching and it will tear open your heart and if you are an easy crier (just like me) then there will be tears involved! The Collector is full of hope, redemption and change and it’s just and simply perfect!

Bewitched Rating

yes, Dante, Charlie and Victoria deserve the magic rating of awesome!

Bottom Line

The Collector by Victoria Scott delivers an delicious tale of light and dark with two of the most unusual characters you ever meet in YA literature. Victoria Scott effortlessly sucks you into a tale of light versus dark and filled it with wonderful touching moments and the perfect of amount of action, hope and amazement. Fans of YA Paranormal, who love the bad boy and who want characters that are unique and fresh must read The Collector!

  2. I believe Victoria Scott deserves an award for that cover! We always drool over the girls in their dresses, but that is one mighty fine cover! I am so glad the story delivers! I’ve been to his website and I believe twitter account. Makes me blush just reading some of his flirty remarks. I will have to make sure to have tissues!

  4. I don’t think I’ve managed to catch any other reviews for this one, or see much beyond the cover reveal that came a while ago. I do admit that the concept, sexy bad boy seduces good girl, makes me a bit nervous, but from the sound of it, Scott really manages to pull that off, making both Dante and Charlie lovable and realistic characters. Thanks for letting me know about this one!

  5. Yes! I loved this one too! I normally cringe a bit with bad boys who are extremely cocky, but Dante had this ‘something’ inside him that made me know he wasn’t as ‘bad’ as he let us think. That there was good in there. I loved his personality right from the get go even though he was a bit of jerk. Loved how much he grew and changed through the book!
