synopsis from goodreads
Mara Dyer doesn’t think life can get any stranger than waking up in a hospital with no memory of how she got there.
It can.
She believes there must be more to the accident she can’t remember that killed her friends and left her mysteriously unharmed.
There is.
She doesn’t believe that after everything she’s been through, she can fall in love.
She’s wrong.
Truth to be told, I was a little scared picking it up. Not because it didn’t intrigue me, but more because of all the hype surrounding this book. But, I shouldn’t have been afraid and should have known better. This book so very much lives up to everything that is said about it and more. It deserves every attention! This book was different, very refreshing new story line and very very awesome in the end….
Reading alone the blurb gave me ghoosebumps, you couldn’t write a better blurb for this book. Eerie, mysterious, intriguing and dark. When Mara wakes up in the hospital she has to face that not only her best friend is dead but also her boyfriend and his sister. Not being able to deal with this tragic loss and considering that she can’t remember how this happend although she was there … she moves with her family to a new place to start new and fresh.
But Mara is not sure about herself and she’s truly questioning her sanity, she hears things, sees things and utterly horrible things happen around her. The only thing in her new life is Noah, but she’s stilly wary about why the super handsome boy seems taking interest in her. There are rumors about him and she should run instead of stay.. He could have any girl in the school, yet he seems drawn to her?
Noah – Oh my goodnes!! Noah is The Perfect Boy Ever! He’s the reason why I love reading YA so much, he’s the perfect example of what I’m longing for to see in a book. He’s extremely handsome, snarky, confident yet he can be the sweetest-boy-ever when it come so to Mara. He’s one of the most swwon-worthy boys ever… Seriously I’m not exaggerating.. So.Not! One scene made me swoon like no other:
He tips Mara’s nose with one finger and said: “And you… are mine” and smirks..
Gosh, girls….
But besides, the perfect romance and the perfect boy – the story itself was full of mysteries and very dark premises all the time. It keeps you on edge, wanting to find out more and utterly you cannot believe the way the story moves. Dark and compelling, fast, rich, beautiful and dark – mix all this together and you find yourself in the world and story of Mara Dyer. The mystery behind Mara is nothing I’ve ever seen so far and it makes me shiver thinking about it , and thinking about what is yet to come.
Seriously, incredible amazingly awesome and fantastic, all words I need to describe this book. I bow my head for this debut novel and I can’t wait to learn more about Mara and Noah and get more from this eerie and perfect way of storytelling that grabs you and won’t let you go until the very last page…
