Hey everyone, I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I’m kicking off this week with a special authors and her very special YA Book: 32 Seconds! And Johanna wrote a very special piece for this Blog Tour she had her main character write a letter to from the older self, to the younger self!

A Letter from the older Julie to the 17 year-old Julie

Dear Julie,

This is your older yours truly writing you a letter. Don’t roll your eyes, or scoff, I’m dead serious. Shizzle, if me giving advice to myself wasn’t the funniest joke of the year!

Anyhow, let’s try. I’ve learned to be a compliant little girl when I was your age, and for a few valid reasons. My life was a mess. Heck, your life is a mess!

Crap. What do I know?

Well, for one, the big car with the roaring engine won’t give you much comfort. Your Bubble might look all fancy-schmancy with its aluminum rims, and shiny black coat of paint, and genuine patent leather interior that makes you want to crawl like a panther behind the wheel, and burn rubber on the highway, but where you’re going, Bubble won’t come with you. And I’m well aware I might sound like a lunatic to you, and you might – actually, strike that, – you will curse me out, but deep down, you’ll thank me for not sugarcoating anything!

Your cellphone won’t tag along either. No need to kiss goodbye to Didi yet, gosh knows your lovely navigation software has been super helpful, but again, you don’t need directions where you’re going.

Because where you’re going is a place you know very well.

Why am I being so goshdarn cryptic?

Girl, who do you think I am? I can’t divulge all the secrets your adventure holds, otherwise, it wouldn’t be an adventure.

Eh, don’t hate me. You will be thankful when everything comes to an end.

A happy ending at that.

One piece of advice I will give you, because you just hate advice, and I do too, so I’ll keep it light: be careful. Don’t take anything for granted, please! And be thankful. Alright, I just gave you a bunch of advice but it’s for your own good, and mine too.

I love you little younger self. The mistakes you made, I don’t regret them. I don’t dwell on the past either, but they helped me grow into the perfect woman I am today.

Yeah, yeah, roll your eyes again. You know I’m closer to perfection than you are.

It’s all tough love, baby. Keep it real, and don’t give up.

See you in a few years.

Xox

Julie

To the average onlooker, the city of Los Angeles represents glitz, glamour, and the celebrity lifestyle. But to seventeen-year-old Julie Jones, the city is a vast host of problems she’s longing to get away from. The latest? An unfortunate disagreement with her ex-boyfriend Mark—one that could land her in some serious hot water.

So rather than face the troubles that torment her, Julie decides to run away from her old life and start fresh somewhere new. But her parents aren’t on board with the plan, and she soon finds her bank accounts frozen and her wallet empty.

With just seventy-five dollars and a full tank of gas, the troubled teen is far too stubborn to turn around and head home. So what’s a girl to do?

What Julie doesn’t know is that her travels are about to take her somewhere unexpected—a place where she’ll be forced to come face to face with the ghosts of her past in order to secure her future.

A tale of redemption, hope, and freedom lost and found, 32 Seconds is a thought-provoking exploration into the human spirit and the nature of forgiveness.

About Johanna K. Pitcairn

Johanna K. Pitcairn has dreamed of becoming a writer since childhood–authoring her first novel at the age of nine, and countless poems, stories, and screenplays by the age of seventeen. Later, rather than pursuing a career as a director and screenwriter, she decided to go to law school, driven by her father’s opinion that “writing does not pay the bills.”

Ten years later, she moved to New York City, which inspired her to go back to the excitement, wonder, and constant change of being a writer. Pitcairn is a huge fan of psychological-thriller novels and movies, and delves into her hopes, fears, friends, enemies, and everything in between in her own writing.
