So, why do YOU read YA? Are you an Adult or a Teen? If you are a Teen, do you think it’s weird all these Adults are reading YA?Â

I’m an adult who reads and loves YA for all of the above reasons. I started reading YA because I wanted to see what my daughter was reading and find out if it was appropriate or not. Then I got hooked. I don’t feel weird reading it, but I do wonder if others think that it is weird. I always bring my daughter along to book signings, but I’m the one who is more into it.

I’m an adult who reads YA books. MY grad program was Writing for Children and Young Adults. Love YA books! I have no shame about reading them.

I love this post!! I agree with all of your reasons! I think YA books are for everyone. I really do, I make it my mission to convert more “adults” to YA.
Great post!

I can’t express how much I LOVE this post 😀 All I can say is … true, true and true. I love YA fiction with a passion only exceeded by my love for my family. Because it’s true – it actually makes the sun shine brighter 🙂 Have a great weekend!

YES to all of these for me too!!! Especially #1 and 3. But mostly all of them. The authors are totally rad, you are so right about that!!! And I love the escape from thinking about responsibilities.

I totally agree with all of these! I also want to be a YA author myself and have been making (slow) progress on writing a novel, so I love the inspiration I get from reading YA. I feel like reading lots of YA helps me stay in touch with what young readers want from a book.<3 Bee @ Bee Reads Books

What a lovely post, Danny. I’m sorry I haven’t been commenting in such a long time. Life does get in the way. I’m hoping I can get my blogging mojo back. I’ve been reading a lot lately, which feels really good – lots of good YA and more adult than I have read lately which is actually nice for the variety. But i will always be drawn to YA for the reasons you describe.

I’m in my mid twenties, and have only recently rediscovered YA. I had only been reading “literature” since high school (and even during high school really). I even thought it was a little weird adults were reading it, but to each their own. But when I joined the book blog/tube community, I saw how excited people got about YA. I started seeking out the books they were mentioning, and they made me excited too! I agree with you on all the things you said! YA books address real issues with all the emotion of youth. I wasn’t a teen that long ago and I remember how everything felt like it was the end of the world, or it was my entire world. I love revisiting that. It’s so powerful. YA is totally awesome!
