Love this cover!!!

Available May 12, 2015 (Published by Henry Holt Books for Younger Readers, an Imprint of Macmillan Children’s Publishing Group)

On the island of Nil, the rules are set. You have exactly 365 days to escape—or you die. Rives is now the undisputed Leader of Nil City, but keeping the City united is tougher than ever.

Raiders have grown bolder, supplies are dwindling, and non-human inhabitants have taken a turn toward the deadly. New arrivals cause rifts within the City, putting the Search system at risk, and calling everything Rives knows into question. Desperate for answers, he teams up with the only other person searching for them: Skye, a new arrival with a mysterious past of her own. Soon the duo find themselves locked in a desperate race to save all the residents of Nil—and possibly destroy the island forever. But at what cost? And who will pay the price?

And here I have a few words from Lynne about why she decided NIL needed a sequel!

The Story Behind NIL UNLOCKED by Lynne Matson

When I finished drafting NIL, I knew Charley and Thad’s story was done. It felt complete; it felt right. But I couldn’t let Nil go. In hindsight, the characters still stuck on the island wouldn’t let me go.

Nil by Lynne MatsonThe image of Rives, alone, staring at the empty lava field in the wake of Thad’s last noon hung with me the entire week after I finished writing NIL. I couldn’t stop wondering: what was Rives thinking? How was he coping without Thad? Why was Rives so obsessed with the Wall, and if he started digging for Nil secrets, what would he find? I also wondered what happened to the grizzly bear, if Jason ever made it back, whether Charley’s story had made headlines, and if so, who might take special note of her strange reappearance.

I had to figure it out. And so, a week after I finished NIL, I went back into that crazy island world and began drafting Rives’s story, picking up where Thad and Charley’s tale left off. The rest of NIL UNLOCKED grew from there! It was a total blast to write.

I hope you have as much fun reading NIL UNLOCKED as I did writing it!

The cover is absolutely gorgeous! I haven’t read NIL yet. I’m a BingeReader and fortunately I have patience (sometimes) to wait for a series to be completed before reading it. I don’t know how much longer I can hold out with NIL though because I keep hearing great things!

I still can’t wait to read the other book. My eyes popped out of my skull when I saw this. . . just reminds me the release date is coming closer & closer!

I have not read the book of NIL yet. I have seen the book around. I just haven’t had the chance to read it yet. Since there is a NIL UNLOCKED, I need to read both of these books.

  8. First off, I LOVED NIL! The premise of being on an island in an alternate universe was amazing! I loved the characters and everything they offered to each other with their different skills, etc… It was terrifying yet oddly fascinating how the island seemed to have it’s own personality. It seemed to play off each inhabitant’s fears in a unique way which is one of the reasons I couldn’t put it down.

The cover Of Nil Unlocked is gorgeous, similar yet so different from Nil’s original cover. Beautiful sunset with hatch marks ticking off the days… definitely ominous!

I can’t wait to find out what happens on the island with Rives and the rest of the city left on Nil. Also, what happened with Charley and Thad? So excited to read about these characters that I bonded with!

    Fantastic giveaway!
