There are authors you love so much, that you’re going to read anything. With Josephine Angelini’s new release it was exactly like this. I loved her Starcrossed series, but when I read the synopsis to TRIAL BY FIRE I knew this was going to be “my” book!
Exciting mix of Fantasy, Contemporary and Parallel Universes
The set up of the world was as fantastic as it could be. Our heroine, is weak in her world (which is our world…) she’s plagued by allergies and can’t eat or go where she wants to be and only her best friend Tristan is truly by her side and takes care of her. When she’s pulled in a parallel universe suddenly her weakened boy makes sense! But more on this later.
This new world is absolutely amazingly portrayed and throughout the whole time I was trying to envision this world as Josephine Angelini explained it to us.
One word: MOVIE-Material!
Seriously. I want to see this world captured in a movie, coming to love on the big screen. It’s enormous, gigantic and completely fantastic! A mix of Tolkien like Elfen City and a Sci-Fi version of our world, there are no words I could bring to capture this wonderment.The magic! Damn, the magic was so amazing! Not just the simple basics and rules, but there is also much about relationships between magic users and bonds that are formed that were beautiful and fascinatingly developed!
Lily – weak, but strong at heart! The perfect developed heroine, in this world full of magic!
Oh how much I adore this girl! I was feeling so baldy for her when she was still in our world – so weak and dependent. But in this new, parallel world her body changes and she understands why her body was so weak and the explanations for this were so perfect that even the scientist in me was at awe. It holds wonderful mixture of magic and science and I was so freaking excited learning all these explanations for the creation of this world, that I’m still so excited when just thinking about it.
So finally Lily is in an enviroment where she’s not just the weak anymore but finally can develop and become someone else, someone stronger, someone she was always meant to be! YEAH LILY! And there is the girl, who is loyal and learns to use magic, and learns how to be strong! Loved loved loved to see this girl grow and change!
So so much love! Oh the butterflies!
There is so much love to be found within these pages that it made my heart ache and swell so much. First, the relationship between Lily and her sister, which is so strong that it even, transpires between worlds.
Then, there is the love between her and her best friend Tristan – which is such a complicated relationship that I’m so excited and eager t explores more. They are friends foremost, but the “old” lily was in love with Tristan, who trashes this love so badly that it broke my heart and brought me to tears! But then, there is more to Tristan – which I found remarkable from Josephine to develop such a complex relationship and such a complex character.
Now coming to the swoon worthy romance that is so wonderful and perfect and beautiful as it should be!
First, there is mistrust – then there is misunderstanding and then there is so much love that it will bring you to your knees!

Trial by Fire by Josephine Angelini was just so incredible amazing! Full of wonderment with a swoon worthy romance, that will make your heart melt. The outstanding mix of Contemporary with Sci-Fi and Fantasy delivers a tale of epic proportions! No words can describe how much I loved this book!!!

As much as I loved your Starcrossed Series, I think you outdid yourself with Trial by Fire. The characters you created went deep into my heart and the relationships you developed were so wonderful and beautiful and heartbreaking. This is the book I wish I could have written as it exactly hold everything I always long for in a story! Excitement, Wonderment an incredible story and such outstanding characters that I want to meet all of these!

What was the latest book that owned you so completely? I must say that I never excepted to love this one so much, but I do! So now, all I can tell you is to go and freaking read this book as soon as it comes out!

I definitely wanted to throttle the Tristan of Lily’s world for the way he treated her. I was all JUST WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING?!!!!! While I absolutely loved this book, I have a fear that a love triangle will develop based on the end – I worry Tristan will come back into the picture. He seems like that type of guy who doesn’t really want something until someone else lays claim to it, but hopefully that won’t be the case. Or if it is, Lily will stay strong:) Such a big fan of this book and I can’t wait to see what happens next!

YESSS! I felt exactly as you did about this book. It just blew me away. I was completely addicted, and I agree that it is visibly stronger than her last series. Love how you talk about Lily’s strength and how much you wanted to cheer her on. I am desperately hoping that Tristan doesn’t turn into a triangle at all, that is my only fear. But I mostly felt plutonic tension with him. But Rowan made me SAWOON. That could be a tricky situation with the Lillian past. But for some reason that uncomfortableness made it somehow more appealing. I cannot wait of the next one!!

This book exploded in my Goodreads feed this week. Haha. Like many were reading it and a lot had it added to the TBR so I’m very intrigued and those who have read it all 5 stars. So I’ll definitely be checking it out b/c I’m curious. =)))
