Super Six Books That I Can’t Stop Thinking About (For Better or For Worse)
Some books just stick with you. They embed themselves in your psyche, and you can’t help but think about them–wonder about the characters long after you’ve closed the covers on the pages. Sometimes you just can’t believe how much you loved a book…or didn’t enjoy a certain one. Here are six of the books that have wormed their way into my head and taken up permanent residence within the cramped confines inside my skull.
Let’s just get the negative one out of the way. This book by the authors who brought us The Nanny Diaries had me literally throwing the book in frustration when the main character Kate just walks away from her love in the end–one who she had worked the entire book to get back. All those pages of build up and the readers own dedication in investing in these characters for the biggest let down of an ending of any book that I’ve ever read. I still see this book on my shelf and give it the evil side-eye, and I read it at least six years ago. (Goodreads / Amazon)
Oh, how I adored the Jane Kelly Mysteries series. This series by Nancy Bush has a feisty protagonist Process Server as a job with private detective work as a side job. She lives in a small house in a quaint little town on a lake in Oregon, and her life should be quiet and relatively stress free. But with a pug that she inherited from a deceased relative and dead bodies starting to mount up in each of the books, her life is anything but relaxing. Since these books were published back in 2006-2007, I’ve periodically checked Nancy’s website waiting for news of a new book in this series. As luck would have it, she’s finally working on a new installment! I don’t know how she’s fitting one in with her busy schedule writing books with her sister Lisa Jackson as well as her own mystery/thrillers, but I can’t wait for a new Jane Kelly Mystery to come out. I loved Ten Little Blue Envelopes and The Last Little Blue Envelope, but I just can’t help but wonder what’s next for Ginny. Does she go on to find love? Where does she go to college? Does she return to London? I just want so many more adventures out of her that we’ll probably never see, and that makes me a little sad. (Goodreads / Amazon)
The Winner’s Curse really surprised me when I read it earlier this year because I usually don’t enjoy fantasy all that much, but this one just didn’t read like fantasy. I still stop and think every once in a while about how the author made this story feel so smooth and not so high fantasy. Plus, I really can’t wait to see what happens in the next book. Warm Bodies really hooked me with lovable thinking zombie R and his devotion to his human love Julie. The world building was excellent and engaging, and now that the zombies are starting to change and become more human-like again, I can’t wait to see what’s next. And I shouldn’t have to wait too long hopefully since Isaac Marion is writing a sequel. (Goodreads / Amazon)
Plus One has been one of those books that people either love or don’t enjoy, and I was one of the people that highly enjoyed it. While the focus was more on the characters than the underlying governmental and structural changes, I’d really like to see another book that deals with these upcoming changes after the way that Plus One ended. There’s no way that such a huge upheaval could go smoothly if it happens at all, and I really want to see what’s next for Sol and D’Arcy. Do they get a happily ever after?
So those were my Super Six Books that have haunted me for better or for worse. I can’t wait to see what books won’t leave your minds!

Ah! I love Warm Bodies! I tend to have an aversion to anything zombie-related, but Warm Bodies (and R) is impossible not to love. THE Romeo and Juliet allusions were a nice touch, too.
Have you seen the movie? It strays a bit from the original plot, as all book-to-movie adaptations do, but it did Isaac Marion’s work justice 🙂

Oooh yeah, The Last Little Blue Envelope definitely had me wondering at the end. Everything was tied nicely at the end but I can’t help but think, like you, about what would go on to happen for Ginny. Will she stay in England? Will she stay with Oliver? So many questions!
