For those who have lovedย Seraphinaย andย Gracelingย comes another truly fabulous fantasy...

For five centuries, a witchโ€™s curse has bound the trolls to their city beneath the ruins of Forsaken Mountain. Time enough for their dark and nefarious magic to fade from human memory and into myth. But a prophesy has been spoken of a union with the power to set the trolls free, and when Cรฉcile de Troyes is kidnapped and taken beneath the mountain, she learns there is far more to the myth of the trolls than she could have imagined.

Cรฉcile has only one thing on her mind after she is brought to Trollus: escape. Only the trolls are clever, fast, and inhumanly strong. She will have to bide her time, wait for the perfect opportunity.

But something unexpected happens while sheโ€™s waiting โ€“ she begins to fall for the enigmatic troll prince to whom she has been bonded and married. She begins to make friends. And she begins to see that she may be the only hope for the half-bloods โ€“ part troll, part human creatures who are slaves to the full-blooded trolls. There is a rebellion brewing. And her prince, Tristan, the future king, is its secret leader.

As Cรฉcile becomes involved in the intricate political games of Trollus, she becomes more than a farmerโ€™s daughter. She becomes a princess, the hope of a people, and a witch with magic powerful enough to change Trollus forever

So my friends, we all knows these books that completely rock your world, and you didn’t even see it coming. That happened with Stolen Songbird and I hope this story will enchant you just like me!

Fantastical Setting with unique Creatures!

I love many many things about the story, but I think the uniqueness holds the biggest charm. A hidden city full of magical creatures, hold and secluded by magic and beneath the earth sounds already pretty unique. But when we fist encounter the city and its surrounding we can’t help but beย excited. Apart from the wonderful setting, the creatures that occupy centre stage are trolls – and tell me how many books you’ve read lately with trolls. No so many I assume. The trolls here are full magical creatures and vary so much that we find ย everything from the ugliest creature to the most beautiful one. I loved the diversity the trolls had and it was always fun to encounter yet another strange troll.

A Magnificent Heroine that captured my heart

Cรฉcile totally stole my heart. She’s such a strong and outstanding heroine that just kicked ass with her willpower , loyalty and strength. Thrown into this horrible situation of being forced to marry a troll (a creature she had no idea existed!) made Cรฉcile grow up super fast and more specifically made her choose where her future will lead her. In the beginning, she was all about to escape and go back home, but the longer she stayed the more she realized it was no use and tried to the best of her situation. Even more, at some point she even became determined to make the life better for some trolls. She’s an admirable person and I loved that she did not hide and did not crumple down. I loved her compassion and strength!

A wonderful Oh So beautiful and swoon worthy Romance!

There is nothing that can make my heart melt so much as a wonderful romance woven into a great story. Romance is the cherry on top of a great story and for me perfects a book. And Oh Ladies you MUST meet Tristan, the prince Cรฉcilie is supposed to marry. He’s cold and seems heartless and like a real Jerk and ass. But soon we realize that he’s acting quite good and actually has good reasons to hide his true nature. And together with Cรฉcile together we slowly discover the beauty that is Tristan’s heart. And more, we realize how amazing, brave and wonderful this boy is and yes of course, then we slowly fall in love with him!

The romance between them was slow and wonderful. It was not love at first sight but it slowly developed into something strong and marvellous.

I should say a few more words about the storyline and the plot, which is just as fantastic as the rest. There are lots of mysteries and filled with political intrigue.

Bewitched Rating

Bottom Line

Stolen Songbird by Danielle L. Jensen is an outstanding fantastical debut with a marvellous heroine and the most beautiful swoon worthy romance. The setting is wonderfully unique, filled with intriguing magical creatures and woven into a story that left nothing to desire.

Additional Info

Gosh how I loved this book. And apart from the two main characters there is also Marc who plays an important role for both Tristan and Cรฉcile. Last Friday Danielle was part of The Big Love Letter Event and shared the most heartbreaking love letter with us!
