Angst, Love, Broken – filled with chemistry and romance. Sounds like many New Adult Novels we’ve read over the past two years. But then, I knew this story before it got published (more on this later) and I knew, I remembered that this story would blew me away and would give me something special.
Broken – So utterly Broken and full of Angst
Granted, I love angst books. I love when a story brings me all these emotions, makes me cry and makes me turn pages with the hope that it will be all better in the end. Clipped Wings is one of the truly angsty books where both characters, Hayden and Tenley are both terrible broken and need each other to heal from something horrible and terrible. Both had to life through something tremendous, something that will make you gasp out in horror at what these two young people had to endure. It seems like fate that these two broken characters are the only ones that will be able to heal the other. Slowly, very slowly we start getting into both of their backstories and finally we understand the enormity of their situations.

Hayden is the poster child of a bad boy with heart and soul. Having ink all over him and being pierced all over he looks like one might run away from him, super fast. However, inside of this boy it looks so very different from what his outside screams at us. He’s such a sweet and caring boy, perfect to be Tenley’s savior even if we wouldn’t believe it at first. But also there is even more to him than it meets the eye – something happened in his past that nearly broke him and left him damaged. We just slowly begging to realize what happened and how much it affected him.
But – Gosh. Hayden is sexy, .. Holy Amazing Sexy my ladies. You’ve got to meet him!
Tenley is such a sad creature, utterly broken, alone and so sad. She needs to be saved, she needs to find love in her life and someone who makes it all better. What happened to her, just brings me tears, whenever I think about it.
They became closer when Tenley wants Hayden to ink her back – like her whole back with beautiful, yet super sad ink .

Amazing Transformation
I can’t write this review without talking about the fact that this is was a fan fiction years ago when Twilight was at its peak. And “Clipped Wings and Inked Armor” was one of my favorite stories, also because it was such a unique story already back then. Clearly, it’s been already it’s original story back when it was “just” a fan fiction and I was eager to see what Helena Hunting did to this story before publishing!
And she did exactly what I hoped she did! She gave this story flow, pacing and made it perfect. Again, the “fan fiction” already had barely something to do with Twilight – nearly nothing to be honest and it was already just a perfect story on its own. I’m so excited to see this story having transformed into this absolute perfect New Adult Story, fans of the genre will love ! So don’t turn your back on it just because it was a fan fiction once – Helena Hunting worked hard on this story and the story evolved!

Clipped Wings by Helena Hunting is so full of emotions that it will bring you to tears from both the horror from what Hayden and Tenley had to endure and from the beauty of hope and saving. The chemistry between Hayden and Tenley is sizzlingly hot and incredibly sexy! A must read for lovers of New Adult filled with Angst and lots of Romance!

The Prequel “Cupcakes and Ink” is already out and might be the perfect way for you go get to know Hayden and Tenley. “Inked Armor” is the sequel to “Clipped Wings” and will be out in May!
Ah you love angsty stories too?? I admit, that many New Adult books deal with lost of Angst – but Clipped Wings is just so so good!!

You and your angsty New Adult books! I’m not a big one for angst but the way you talk about this story makes me want to read it (even though I know I won’t love it because I’ll be rolling my eyes halfway through…sadly. I get too much angst on a daily basis because of my students.). Love that description: Steel and ink. Nice.

I am not much into NA, but this sounds so good and I love the cover.
