He thinks she's an annoying know-it-all...

Hugh Prentice has never had patience for dramatic females, and if Lady Sarah Pleinsworth has ever been acquainted with the words shy or retiring, she's long since tossed them out the window. Besides, a reckless duel has left this brilliant mathematician with a ruined leg, and now he could never court a woman like Sarah, much less dream of marrying her.

She thinks he's just plain mad...

Sarah has never forgiven Hugh for the duel he fought that nearly destroyed her family. But even if she could find a way to forgive him, it wouldn't matter. She doesn't care that his leg is less than perfect, it's his personality she can't abide. But forced to spend a week in close company they discover that first impressions are not always reliable. And when one kiss leads to two, three, and four, the mathematician may lose count, and the lady may, for the first time, find herself speechless ...

New York Times bestselling author Julia Quinn's enchanting third novel in the Smythe-Smith quartet is guaranteed to make you laugh out loud and tug at your heartstrings in equal measures.

One Boy

The Sum Of All Kisses by Julia Quinn starts off with a flash back to the night that Hugh Prentice and Daniel Smythe-Smith dueled, a night that irrevocably changed their lives for the worse. We know from the previous book in this series, A Night Like This, that Huge and Daniel are able to recover from the events of that night and move forward. But this book focuses on how those events impacted Hugh.

Hugh is a brilliant, very cerebral man. Kind and handsome, of course, but very smart, often better with numbers than with people. Now that he and Daniel’s friendship is restored, he finds himself trapped in a three-week long wedding extravaganza kicked off with one wedding and then ending in a second. And, of course, he’s been thrown together with the one woman who blames him most for Daniel’s previous exile, Daniel’s cousin, Sarah Pleinsworth.

Plus One Girl

Sarah knows she’s not the one who was most impacted by her cousin Daniel’s exile to Europe. But it’s hard to feel that way when that exile caused her to miss out on the most marriage prolific Season the ton had seen in decades. Besides which, she just doesn’t like Hugh Prentice. He’s cold and aloof and rubs her the wrong way. Until…

her cousin asks her to help Hugh feel welcome at the three week long wedding fest.

Honor bound to be nice to the man, Sarah and Hugh find the walls between them melting.  And when attraction strikes…well…it’s good times, dear reader.  Sigh-worthy, warm-fuzzy, good times.

Equals A Supremely Satisfying Romance

At the heart of all of Julia Quinn’s novels is a clever adaptation of the traditional historical romance story lines and witty dialog that makes her characters so fun to spend time with!  I love that these stories are populated with women I could easily see myself being or being friends with.  They have normal flaws and foibles and their problems, even though their of a different time, are totally relatable.  And ultimately, these are stories about the quest for love, and that’s a quest I can ALWAYS get behind!

Bottom Line

If you’re looking for a book that will sweep you away to a more gentile time and let you bask in the glow of new love but still allow you to spend time with some fantastically funny and fun characters, this book is for you!

  1. That reminds me that I still need to finish the Bridgerton books. I think I have 3 more. How would you compare this series to the Bridgertons?

I like this series because it’s the same world as the Bridgertons but for me, nothing will compare to the Bridgertons. My favorites in that series are the first 4 and then the 6th. Have you read When He Was Wicked yet? It’s PHENOMENAL!!!!!

Isn’t she great, Mary? I adore her too!! Have you checked out Eloisa James? I’ve heard she’s great too, but haven’t taken the plunge on one of her novels yet.

I like Eloisa James but I’m loving Sarah MacLean and Courtney Milan. Have you read any of theirs yet? If not, DO SO NOW!! 🙂
