Super 6 Books that Scared The Bejeebus Out Of Me

Halloween is almost here an so, I’ve picked a spook-tacular topic!!!

sss 1 haunted ebook
Most folks know J. L. Bryan for his Jenny Pox series, but this stand alone book, (which I of course read while the hubz was out of town… *duh!!*) is freakishly scary!!  And the printing machine….. *shudder*

sss 2 think of a number

This one was really creepy!!!  The letters, the randomness….the methodical look into the mind of a psychopath….SUPERB!!!!

sss 3 silence of the lambs

Oh, Clarice……. 😉

sss 4 along came a spidar

The book that started it all for Alex Cross….and really convinced me a murderer could be ANYONE, ANYWHERE!!!

sss 5 misery

I don’t know how anyone could pick the scariest Stephen King book (I’m reading Doctor Sleep now and it’s spooking the shiz out of me!!!) but Misery is high up on my list of super scary books by Mr. King, not the least of which is because he scares me about every little mundane detail!!  If every blade of grass has the potential to be evil…What about the more complex aspects of our lives?  Do they just hide away, waiting for us to drop our guards…….?

sss 6 pushing the diviners

Two words:   Naughty John….*shudder*  there’s something even scarier though than how that guy knows everything that’ sgoing on!!!

So those are MY top 6 books that Scared The Bejeebus Out Of Me.  What about you?

Can you narrow it down to only 6???

What memories do they bring up??

Let us know!

I recently read Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill. Definitely creepy! I had a hard time sleeping while I was reading this book and that very seldom ever happens to me.

I read a book when I was much younger, about thirteen. Shade’s Children by Garth Nix. I’m trying to track down a hard copy so I can re-read it, but it had me terrified of being younger than fourteen. I don’t know what about it frightened me so much, but there was just something off about it.

I also received House of Leaves from a friend but I have been too scared to start reading it.

Also, I have been silently lurking on your blog for about two weeks and just want to say that I think it’s wonderful!

    Thanks! :]

  4. Oooh! I loved The Diviners and can’t wait for the sequel!!! (I’m not really happy about the cover re-design tho T_T). And I’m totally with you on Misery – love Stephen King and everything this guy writes! If you like scary stories, I highly recommend The Winter People by Jennifer McMahon (Random House, 2014). It’s on NetGalley right now and it’s SO AWESOME! 🙂 I’m not familiar with the other books you mentioned, but I’ll look em up for sure! thanks for sharing!!

The best book I never finished: Amber House. This book had me hooked right off- it was soooo good. And then it got creepy. And the scaredy-cat I am had to stop reading.
I saw a posting about the sequel not too long ago and felt tempted to try and read book one again, but I still feel the shivers down my spine just thinking about it. I’m too big of a baby when it comes to this scary stuff… *shrugs*
