From Rachel’s Point of View

Isaiah tugs on my hand, guiding me closer to him. Our arms touch and I shiver as if I was zapped by lightning.

“We’re not out of the woods yet,” he says. “Cop cars are everywhere.”

I turn my head to the street and stop when Isaiah squeezes my hand. “Don’t look. We’ve got to blend in.”

“I don’t understand,” I say in a hushed voice. “We’re not in our cars. How would they know?”

Isaiah keeps his eyes straight ahead. “I only said I wouldn’t rat. I didn’t say anything about anyone else.”

My mouth dries out—West’s friends. Did they escape or are they telling the cops my phone number and address? Can this get any worse?

Isaiah lets go of my hand and in a blur, pushes my back against a cold brick wall. His body becomes a hot, thick blanket over mine. The fine hair on my neck stands on end and my eyes close at the sensation of his warm breath on the skin behind my ear.

I’m absolutely terrified, but at the same time my body tingles with a weird anticipation.

“There’s two cops walking the street,” he whispers.

Peeking beyond his bicep, I see the two blue uniforms stalking in our direction. “What do we do?” I barely breathe out.

His hands go to my waist—my waist! And they feel so right. I like this closeness. Maybe I like it too much. A guy has never been this close to me. Never. And I can’t believe it’s happening, even if it is to keep from being arrested.

My heart beats frantically in my chest. Isaiah is hot and scary and hot. Why on earth would a guy like him want to be anywhere near a girl like me?

It’s the adrenaline rush. That’s what it is. I like how he feels because I’m still experiencing the adrenaline rush from Isaiah’s NASCAR driving skills. His arm shifts, and I love how that movement causes his muscles to flex.

Stop it, Rachel. It’s not real. Focus.

“Kiss me,” he whispers. “If you kiss me we’ll blend in.”

My mouth drops open as if to make a sound, but nothing comes out. How do I say the words…I don’t know how to kiss.

Wow, wasn’t that spectacular and steamy? Isaiah sure knows how to protect his girl, and sheltered Rachel just needs to go with it! We can’t wait for this book!

Coming November 26th 2013 by Harlequin Teen

Goodreads| pre-order:  Amazon

From acclaimed author Katie McGarry comes an explosive new tale of a good girl with a reckless streak, a street-smart guy with nothing to lose, and a romance forged in the fast lane

The girl with straight As, designer clothes and the perfect life-that’s who people expect Rachel Young to be. So the private-school junior keeps secrets from her wealthy parents and overbearing brothers…and she’s just added two more to the list. One involves racing strangers down dark country roads in her Mustang GT. The other? Seventeen-year-old Isaiah Walker-a guy she has no business even talking to. But when the foster kid with the tattoos and intense gray eyes comes to her rescue, she can’t get him out of her mind.

Isaiah has secrets, too. About where he lives, and how he really feels about Rachel. The last thing he needs is to get tangled up with a rich girl who wants to slum it on the south side for kicks-no matter how angelic she might look.

But when their shared love of street racing puts both their lives in jeopardy, they have six weeks to come up with a way out. Six weeks to discover just how far they’ll go to save each other.

  1. Oh my!
I loved that short excerpt you shared, Danny! I adore Katie McGarry and her books! She’s so good at writing broken characters that you can really feel for. I’m excited for Crash Into You because it’s Isaiah’s story and I have been waiting for his story since forever!
I can already tell that it’s going to be fabulous (not that I expected anything less from Katie). The couple has so much chemistry! I can’t wait! 🙂
Thanks for sharing, Danny and thank you for the giveaway.

I love Katie’s books because they’re real. The books she writes are about very real situations: foster parents, abuse, drugs, trauma, family relationships, and love. Her stories connect us and I believe that’s important. That’s why I love Katie AND her books.

  6. Um. I have read both of the first 2 books in the series and while book number 2 was pretty great, Pushing The Limits will stay in my heart FOREVER. I read the book when it first came out and still have not forgotten the characters or the story. It was truly beautiful.

Can’t wait for the book – I’m against (hearing of) ARC’s because it’s so annoying to hear from people with access to a book I have to wait 3 months for…but if it’s ME with access I’ll change my mind!

How can one NOT love her, I mean OMG. I looooove Isaiah, he is my favorite character from the series. OK after Noah, or maybe a very close 2nd to Noah. Her stories are touching, heartfelt and so realistic that one can’t help but feel like we are experiencing the love, the first kiss and all those raw emotions that comes with falling in-love for the first time.

I have no idea about the second part of the question, but I do know why i love her books: because the characters are lovely in a messed up kind of way, and you can relate to their struggle and enjoy their adventure and their flirting and teasing. Because the plots are fluid and you story can make you both happy and sad and it leaves you all fuzzy inside from all the cuteness. Because the writing is beautiful and addictive.. oh well, I could write all day and night about her books, I love them THAT much.

Thanks for the giveaway, for making it international, and for the teaser (I almost wrote ‘kiss’, LOL, thinking about the end of the scene) – Oh, Isaiah’s got a good girl for the bad boy inside. So cute, can’t wait to read more about them ;))

  17. Katie has written two of my most favorite books of the last two years, and I just _know_ that Crash Into You will be another favorite. She has such a talent for conveying human emotion to the point where the reader feels what the character is feeling, which is no small task. I often come out of my reading trance feeling discombobulated and as if I just woke from a dream. Katie is my she-ro! 🙂

  18. I love Katie’s words because they’re original. They touch difficult life situations of the most interesting age group, in my opinion, and she deals with those situations with finesse and realism.
    Also… Noah! *ded*

I love Katie books. In pushing the limits i feel in love with Noah and Echo story, two broken teens finding each other. In dare you to Katie surprised me again with Beth story and I actually loved this one even more than PTL. And after breaking my heart a little in DYT I’ll finally be able to know Isaiah more and hopefully he will get his happy ending.

    Thanks for the giveaway

i cannot wait!!as it is Katie’s books are amazing but couple that with what we know of Isiah’s past and this will be one phenomenal book. Katie always gives us exactly what we want but she also touches our hearts in ways other authors can only aspire to. Reading her books gives me the strength to overcome my own obstacles by going along with her characters as they overcome their own. if Katie stops writing i will hunt her down and get her to write more.period. and i most certainly will read her books till they are dog-eared. 🙂

I just love all of Katie’s lovably flawed characters who always, always make me root for them. She completely converted me into a Ryan lover when I thought I could only love Beth with Isaiah (but don’t get me wrong, I loveeeee Isaiah.) I need this book now so I can read about him and Rachel! November is too long!

I think her books are just so awesome and cool and the concepts that she is able to weave and spin into a massive story with characters that are just so likeble and just as interesting as real life people!
i would be like the happiest person in the world to win this! 🙂

I love how her characters are not 100% good people–because no human being is truly good. I really like how realistic their flaws are.

I haven’t had the opportunity to read a Katie McGarry novel, but I really want to. I hear her characters are really relatable and she doesn’t shy away from real life issues in her books. I like reading heartfelt novels with well-established characters, so I think I could easily get lost in Katie’s books.
